This place knows how to do burgers right! To start, there's a choice between two sizes that should accommodate any sized appetite. But, I recommend coming in on the brink of starvation, because it's going to feel so good when you take your first bite! Next, there are a ton of topping options for your burger (too many to list). Add to that the dips available for the fries and you can custom order your dream meal.

This location is fairly large and the service is good. I was in there off peak and I imagine it can get quite crowded during the lunch hour.

The only drawback is the prices. It's a bit on the pricey side for a burger, but worth it.

I'm not the biggest fan of British burgers. Something about the beef isn't quite the same as American beef, and therefore doesn't taste as nice. However, there are times when I want nothing more than to sink my teeth into a tasty burger, and GBK is as good a place as any to satisfy this craving.

The food in this GBK is pretty decent. On my most recent visit, I had the small blue cheese burger (the one with sauce) and an order of sweet potato fries. We waited eons for our food to arrive, and I was already reaching the point in my hunger where I was becoming a bit agitated. By the time the food arrived, I was nearly in tears from hunger.

Luckily, the burger and sweet potato fries didn't disappoint. My burger was juicy and generously slathered with the blue cheese sauce. The only think I might have changed was foregoing the relish--that stuff doesn't do it for me. The sweet potato fries were all sorts of greasy amazing. Whoever thought of the bacon aioli is genius. Seriously tasty stuff. At first, I was a bit disappointed with the size of the sweet potato fries portion, but by the end, I was filled with greasy goodness.

On a side note, once I was at this location and I saw a child put one of the ketchup dispensers in his mouth. Talk about yuck-factor. I'm not sure what happened with that ketchup dispenser after it's adventures in that kid's mouth, but I'm guessing some poor sap shared his germs.

If you're hungry for a burger in Richmond, GBK should do the trick, but perhaps avoid the ketchup.

A lot of people rate this burger chain on the basis that it does really good, 'gourmet' burgers. In reality, I think the hype is based on the comparison with the competition rather than any kind of absolute value. It's not difficult to look good when your competition is the likes of McDonald's.

I've not been any other GBK so don't know if the Kiwi theme is peculiar to the Richmond branch, but there's a distinct New Zealand influence to the more exotic choices on the menu.

Mind you, I wouldn't bother with anything other than the bog standard burger/cheeseburger. The other concoctions come across as gimmicks, more than considered combinations of ingredients. To be fair, the 'normal' burgers are very good, but watch out for the £1.50 charge if you want any sort of sauce to go with your burger.

I've been to about three GBK's but mostly to the one in Richmond as it's nearest to where I live. The burgers are simply enormous and very good. They come in a "tower" held together with a large "cocktail stick".

An unusual selection of toppings like ginger sauce, mango sauce, beetroot. Plus if you're a veggie you can have ones with giant mushrooms. Also chicken burgers too.

If there are two of you, I'd really advice you NOT to have two portions of chips with it as the chips are cut very large and with a burger almost the size of small child you'd need a Herculean appetite to eat one with a whole bowl of chips to yourself. One between two is enough.

The milkshakes are also pretty filling - but as there's not much else in the way of "dessert" have one if you have a sweet tooth.

"Gourmet" also means gourmet in price but considering how large they are, I think they are good value for money.

Got a couple of burgers here on their BOGOF offer during the world cup (voucher required).

Staff were friendly. The burgers are big and juicy, and tasty. Really enjoyed it.

This place does everything right except for the burger. The bun was fantastic. Soft but lightly toasty. I had the Westminster, so It came with amazing sauteed mushrooms and horseradish sauce. Along with some wild greens, the toppings were a tasty compliment to the bun.

The fries were hot and crispy. They were also thick cut, so making them crispy was no easy task.

Also had one of their fizzy drinks which was a nice refreshing compliment to the salty fries and burger.

The service was also friendly and professional. A large burger was about 7 pounds so not that expensive...

So what went wrong...well the burger itself. They say that the rarest they can make the burger is medium rare. That is a red flag. Not sure if the meat is a little questionable or if it is the legacy of mad cow, but this was a signal of an overcooked patty. Sure enough, the medium rare that ordered turned out to be more medium well to well done. As a result, no juice in the burger. Such a shame because everything else was so good. But for the faltering meat, I can only give this place 3 stars.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen is a New Zealand owned chain of burger restaurants that does what it says on the tin. The burgers are top quality, well cooked, tasty and filling. It is comparable to Giraffe or other similar cafes. They also do good milkshakes.

The vegetarian options are somewhat limiting, however you can ask for your burger without any bread.

They can also cater for large groups unlike some places in Richmond (we had 10 people today with no problems in the spped of the food arriving).

Service can be a bit hit and miss but you are there for the food.

As the name implies, it is a burger joint where you can tailor order to your dietary needs. A similar, albeit slightly more upscale, US-based version would be "The Counter".

I had buffalo burger with extra mushrooms and guacamole. It was a "naked" version with no bun. Creamed corn was on the side. The corn, alas, on the knob. I would rather have it simply on the plate. Coleslaw was alright though different from what I am used to so I can't attest to its authenticity.

Surprisingly enough, they had latte, which wasn't bad at all. I was there on Tuesday evening and place was rather busy. I imagine it is packed on the week-ends.

Fancy an enormous tasty burger, this is the place. Does what it says on the tin!

The time we were there the staff was a bit slow and they seemed distracted all the time.

My husband and I have been there twice and have really enjoyed it. The serve is always great. And the burgers are fresh and HUGE! Burgers are really good but they are bit too big to handle without a knife and fork. But they sure take care of our craving for a good hamburger.
