Went here last weekend to see Oldham Athletic in FA Cup action. I had been warned by football friends to avoid this place and instead go see Bolton Wanderers of FC United instead. I heard it was the colest stadium in England and that was enough of a reason to go - try something different.

I was disappointed that the bitter cold winds weren't whipping off of the Penine hills, which you can see from the stadium since a few years ago one of the longer stands was torn down only for the team bosses to later realize that they have no money to build a new one! This makes it unique.

I was alone at the game so struck up a conversation with a couple fans and we sat together, had a couple beers together and I got to learn some Oldam team history. There were meat pies (but didn't have any) and other basic food, so you don't have to leave hungry. There was also a nice fan shop where I bought the team's 3rd shirt, which is orange, for 10 pounds. A nice souvenir, I think.

For an interesting football experience, I highly recommend Boundary Park.

This makes me sick. I mean, really sick. Like, food poisoning and intestinal parasites and stuff. I mean, isn't that what happens when you eat Old Ham?

First-Hand Experience: I saw Oldham play Rochdale live once, and I've seen Oldham play away from home too. My friend Alex and I came here and saw a few other games here and there in the MCR area. I have no affinity with Oldham and watching them was nice, but not one of my favourite experiences. I still really respect them though and they get a 3.

This is the listing for the football club, not for the stadium. I've created a new listing for the stadium and hopefully those reviews that are just for the stadium will be moved over there. Every team and stadium should have their own separate listings as all the North American teams do and a lot of the British ones.

This is one of the many great teams in the Manchester area, which is where I used to live. It's perhaps my least favourite of the smaller teams in this area even though they were a Premier League club (so to speak - it was called Division One then) back in the 1980s, with their legendary player Andy Ritchie and their legendary manager Joe Royle.

Formed in 1895 as Pine Villa, which is like Aston Villa only in a forest. Known as the Latics because their movement is static and their history a little pathetic (jk), they play in awful blue, but I have to say that even though Paul Scholes is a fan (ew), Michelle Marsh is too (ooh) so that's a score for them.

They were knocked out of the FA Cup in the Semi Finals by local rivals Man United, twice in 90 and 94. Boo. They were league runners up in 1915.

Oldham Athletic are a League One side in the Football League. Hardly as illustrious as Manchester United or Manchester City, Oldham have no dreams of conquering Europe, but rather make their focus remaining in League One year in year out after an inevitable flirt with relegation.

For a day trip or an afternoon out its one of the pleasantest grounds in the north-west. It's a family club with a good local spirit, and they are well-supported in the local community. The ground is a good size, with a capacity of over ten thousand, which is occasionally even full.

I'm not affiliated to Oldham personally. Because my uncle was a Macclesfield town player I'm sold to Macc as my lower-league north-west club, but I cant deny that Oldham is a good day out.

Pies, beer, Bovril, they've got it all. Wrap up warm and head down. For big football followers, I recommend taking a close look at Captain Sean Gregan, who you may remember from his Preston North End days. I've always felt he was one who could have gone on to a premiership career. He's getting on now and definitely wont make it, but is still worth a look. Rising stars include Dale Stephens, who looks bright despite being loaned out to Rochdale earlier in the season.

If you're an aspiring player yourself then they've got a well thought of centre of excellence, so have a look on the website.

They don't call it Ice Station Zebra for nothing. Known to be one of the coldest grounds in the country i can vouch for this to be true and recommend wrapping up if you're visiting in winter!
Slightly biased as a Latics supporter myself, the ground is compact but large enough to not feel cramped and is probably at the better end of the table in regard to League One grounds.
Hot food is available which is a plus, with the club being particularly famous with home & away supporters alike, with the unique Shepherds Pie option proving popular.
The views provided throughout the ground are good with no-ne being too far from the action, and the ground is located just off the motorway and close to Elk Mill retail park which is helpful for away fans who fancy some fast food or need to top up their petrol before the drive home.

I am a little biased being an Oldham Athletic fan but i believe that every self respecting football fan should come to Boundary Park.

No longer the home of the plastic pitch but still known as Ice Station Zebra due to the biting winds and the fact that it is the highest football ground.

A revamp of the stadium is due to commence in hope of bringing us into the 21st century so get on down quick.

You can still grab a pie and a pint or a burger, hot dog etc all for under a fiver which is decent compared to most.

Even the toilets are in decent nick.

We have a corporate area which is basically a cabin on a paltform but that is deceptive because once you go in it offers everything you can expect from a lounge area. I have been in a few times and the most ive paid is £45 and for that you get a 3 course meal, programme, complimentary drinks, tv screen and nice comfy seat to watch the game. Well worth it and the atmosphere is good in there.

If your in the area and your a football fan then get down to Boundary Park but dont forget to wrap up warm.

This may be the coldest know venue for football, but is also the home of the warmest/friendliest Football fans.

Was here last weekend for Barnsley vs Oldham... Couldn't find anywhere to park.. Went to the first car park he said "no space try the next one" got to the next car park "you can't park here permit holders only try the next one" after this there was no next one we therefore had to drive around for about 10mins finding a space on a side street that was a further 5 min walk away from ground... Also there was 1 set of women toilets with 4 cubicles in for a whole stand.. Not good when your pregnant especially with over 2000 fans... Would never visit again. But it's an away ground ticked off my list!
