The Brick Lane Gallery is situated at the top end of Brick Lane, close to Liverpool Street.
It houses an interesting eclectic mix of contemporary art by British and International artists that constantly changes.
The majority or the artists who exhibit here are emerging and mid-career artists. Here you will find a mixture of group and solo shows in the mediums of painting, sculpture, photography, performance, video and works on paper.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Susannah I.SoMa, San Francisco, États-Unis0220 déc. 2023
I wish I had done more research, as my experience that this is a scam to get our money is the same as all the rest stated... AVOID THIS PLACE!! They are truly despicable. I had to get the fraund deoartment from my bank to get my "nonrefundable" fee returned - they didn;t mention the supposedly nonrefundable part until after they had the payment. Luckily this did NOT fly, but it easily could have been a complete loss. DO NOT USE THEM.

This Gallery sends generic emails to Artists. They do not care about the quality of the work or curatorial standards, they care about getting money upfront. To exhibit here and list it on your CV will probably do your career more damage than good. You would be much better hiring a village hall and putting on your own exhibition. To exhibit at Brick Lane Gallery would be a mistake, it is a vanity gallery and nothing more. I asked them to stop sending me DM's and emails but they continue so I'm leaving this review in response.

They contacted me about my "impressive work" for their Photography Now exhibition (I should know, I am already a successful photographer who has held a solo exhibition elsewhere). I enquired for further information and was told they ask artists to pay upfront £660 for a 3m wall space, £1320 for 6m or £1980 for 9m to exhibit with promise of exposure, but no guarantee of sales. Shocking!
If they were as successful a gallery as they promote themselves to be, they wouldn't need this business model. Why not have a commision based model and take a cut per sale of work, rather than ask artists to foot the cost upfront? The whole thing is fishy, exploitative and they are clearly preying on "emerging artists" (which if they did actual research they'd know I'm not emerging at all). Artists are better off building up an audience on social media than trusting rogue galleries like this one. Avoid.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Loretta Y.Vauxhall, Londres, Royaume-Uni0121 mars 2023
Like so many of the other reviews they persistently contacted me using the same script as the other reviews. They want money upfront and send a payment link, if you can't pay £660 they offer to split it to two payments of £330 that's just for the smallest amount of space. The whole thing is extortionate and thanks to these other reviews I blocked their email and didn't go through with payment - thank god I Googled them because it sounded suspicious.
Don't click on the payment link, invest your money into your art and to gallery's who show genuine care to the work you work hard to create, not charge extortionate amounts and want payment with no contract!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Eva D.Isle of Dogs, Londres, Royaume-Uni111117 juin 2021
On the 15th of June I received a lovely generic email to exhibit my art- its pay to play and as many other artists have said, a scam. 600 pounds for a little bit of space? The only artists this gallery does and can show have money upfront, sure as someone else said, they take no commission but it is worth considering how few young artists can actually afford that? Don't waste your time.

Just realized I never shared my Google review of this "gallery" on Yelp. Buckle up, y'all:
A PSA to my fellow artists: Like you, I received an email from the Brick Lane Gallery with an offer to "exhibit" (I use the term loosely here) as an "emerging, international artist" with "impressive work." Sounds a bit like a Nigerian prince, right? (Hint: the answer is yes).
It's a vanity gallery, as in you pay for a rental space to exhibit, so they don't take commission. It's around $800 for a whopping 10' of space. So, you pay for a handkerchief if space and international expedited shipping both ways (the exhibition "is approaching soon" at a mere 10 days away), and on top of that they send the same exact blast email out to hundreds of artists.
Save your time and save your $800-- take yourself on a vacation, buy 800 things at the dollar store, or pay rent for an actual space that can be lived in.Helpful 17Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1 - Francis G.L'Assomption, QC13361227 juin 2019
