    I know where you got this idea --  you want something like our historic three game shut out sweep of the boyzinblue last June - just a couple weeks after Cain's Perfect Game, right? The odds and statistics are against your team with regards to that sort of thing. But I can understand the sad face you still must feel inside from last year slide.  

    It heartens me. As does the comment that he would sign with the biggest looosers in the league if they paid him more - it reveals the heart and soul of your new pricey pitcher on display. Nice.

    No - next on KNBR are games on March 1st, 2nd and 3rd - all at 12:05. Not that the opponents matter all that much, but the first game is against the A's.

    I don't like the Giants, just like I don't like the Raiders.
    I also don't like the Yankees, so by proxy, I'm not into the Dodgers.
    I like the Lakers, though, and I'm fond of the Warriors, but I can't fucking STAND the Miami Heat.

    I love LA, as a region, but don't hold a blind allegiance to a team just because they're from LA.
    Crazy, I know :-)

It's a $167 million contract that includes his $8 million already agreed to for 2013 and runs through 2021. It includes a $22 million option for 2022, raising the total potential value of his current deal to $186  million.

    Also, Barry Bonds should be in the Hall of Fame. Even if he did do steroids (which he didn't), he was totally robbed by those self-righteous baseball writers.

    You have to look at the market.  Pence was the #1 priority for the Giants which we can all agree wtih.  Once the season ends, the Giants would have been competing with all the other teams to sign Pence.  Obviously, there was a clear rush to sign Pence before the season ended and show Pence the loyalty that he deserves.

    Last off-season, Upton signed a five-year, $15M/yr contact with Atlanta.  Pence clearly is a better player than Upton and deserve to get more.  So Pence's salary is not totally "freakish".

    For years we have admired and appreciated the enthusiasm and loyalty of our fans.

    This season I was awestruck.

    No team in baseball has what we have. Not even close.

    As we dropped in the standings after our World Series Championship season, you stuck with us. Game after game, you fired up grills in the parking lots. You wore your Panda and Giraffe hats, your Angel halos, your Gamer Babe T-shirts. You brought your gloves and your babies, your blankets and your scorecards. You showed up in such great numbers on the road that sometimes it seemed that every game was a home game.

    And even during the roughest stretches, you brought such energy and optimism that our players - your players - poured everything they had onto the field. The day we were mathematically eliminated from contention, Brandon Belt hit a walk-off single in extra innings that had his teammates mobbing him on the field as if the pennant hung in the balance. Three nights earlier, Giants newcomer Yusmeiro Petit came within one pitch of a perfect game - a gritty, electrifying performance that pulled all of us out of our seats. In Los Angeles a week later, we took three of four from the first-place Dodgers behind Hunter Pence's jaw-dropping five home runs and 12 RBIs.

    ...and it continues.

    ...that kid who stabbed and killed a Dodger fan is out and the DA won't press charges unless the cops come up independent witnesses or new evidence.. smh, senseless violence.. but I just feel that kid got off way too easy, guns or knives don't kill people, people kill people .. even getting hit with a chair isn't life threatening .. little bitches too quick to pull a weapon nowadays .. no squabbles!

    I guess we won't be signing that much needed bat in the line up. At least we have Lincecum to give up 9 runs in 3 innings every time he starts. Good stuff.

    IMO they did it almost more to "keep the band together" than because if any stats. Dude still has a huge following and a lot of fans just love this guy even tho he has arguably sucked through long stretches. Not sayin I agree with it, but he's a draw, 2 Cy Youngs, 2 World Series rings, loyalty, fan goodwill, so on and so forth had as much to do with the deal as his recent stats

    It's a weird connection many Giants have with Lincecum. When he pitched his no hitter this year, I heard many fans say things like "As I was watching the final inning I was so happy for him I felt my eyes get wet."  As much as Cain is liked, I never heard anyone make such comments about his perfect game.

    It doesn't seem so weird to me.
    Cain was Mr 'No Run Support' for years and Timmy didn't have to go though that  He was the Cy Young guy, the not-so-big guy who was on the Sports Illustrated cover... the small young crazy long haired 'different' SF guy. Plus - no wife or girlfriend (!) and the mothers want to protect him, I don't know, maybe feed him.

    And then the pot thing... he's just so gosh darn human and just like us and all. Woo Timmy!

    Considering the 20 or 25 pounds he lost at the end of the season (his brother started to do the cooking), I have high hopes for him at Spring Train... Sooo..hey - is this next one a contract year for Pablo?

    Quite frankly, I'm excited for *every* season to start up. All possibilities are all right out there waiting for every team at the start.  ANY team could go... come ON Pittsburgh and Kansas City, I'm looking at you two.

    The A's are running themselves very well these days - every year is a possibility with Melvin over there.  I cannot ever wait for baseball to begin again, although I always must. I do adore the game. (And of course, hoping the current  series goes a full seven, tooooooo)
