The best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. I discovered Phin Bar during the pandemic and it certainly became one of my highlights during those trying times. They originated as an events catering business, but were savvy enough to pivot their business to a retail pop-up to serve consumers like myself.

Aside from a high-quality product, Phin Bar's service has been amazing. Paula & Hoang, the founders, are friendly, responsive and accommodating. They go above and beyond to help their customers. Running a small business is not easy, and I appreciate all the hard work and dedication they have put in. Excited to see their original business is picking up again as people are increasingly back in the office, and hopeful that their retail business will remain to serve diehard loyalists like myself.

For folks who haven't tried out their coffee and appreciate Vietnamese coffee, I hope you'll get a chance to do so soon. They're not yet your traditional retail coffee shop, but once you do get a chance to try it, you'll join me in hoping they'll grow their business and will get there soon.

Hope they can get their act together soon or else this place won't last very long. If you were hoping for quick fresh juice fix then this is not the right place. The service is absolutely horrible. I have left a number of times hoping to get a fresh juice before going to work or picking up the kids but it takes them at least five minutes to take your order and then another 10 minutes for you to get it. If I have nothing to do or nowhere to go and have all the time in the world, then this is a good option. I would love to be a loyal customer but they need to work on their service and operations first since I don't have time.

Menu has a great selection but I think it's too ambitious because they cannot deliver on service. I hope things get better and I can update my review but for now it's been supe disappointing.

Heard a ton about The Melt prior to its launch and was looking forward to checking this place out. So not the best grilled cheese sandwich out there but for what's it's worth, I think it's a great option especially if you are craving a grilled cheese sandwich. I had the Mission combo - white corn soup with pepperjack on sourdough, while my husband had the classic chedder with wild mushroom soup.

The mushroom soup was the only thing we didn't like. Everything else was yummy. The selling point of this place isn't the food but the service measured by how quickly you get your food. As a new restaurant (the first of many), I am sure they still have a ton of kinks to sort out but they'll perfect the process soon enough. The app was not out when we paid our first visit, but I was still impressed with the speed of operations. It's ideal for weekday lunches in the financial district.

As a marketer and sucker for clean, simple branding, I love what they've done with the concept and overall look & feel. I really hope it succeeds the way the founder has envisioned.

Now that I am done writing, I'm starting to crave the Mission combo ... in due time ...

To be honest, I probably would not have tried this place had we not gone with our friends who kept raving about it. It really helps to go with people who know the owners and more importantly, know what to order.

The business owner is Cantonese, but don't dismiss the joint as not being authentic. His wife is Japanese and her brother is the head chef, so I think they know what they're doing ... at least it's had us come back many times since we first tried it out. It's a family affair and it may come off as a Chinese-run operations, but it isn't.

Also, if you're going to go, just get the omakase. Everything else on the menu is not worth your time. The amaebi seasoned with sea salt, seared toro and butterfish are my favorites. I went once while sick and ordered something else on the menu - the experience was not quite the same. Food isn't cheap, but good sushi shouldn't be.

    • Ramen, Izakaya, Nouilles

A bit disappointed, to be honest. It was one of those places overhyped on Yelp. I had big hopes for the bacon-wrapped mochi dish, and it was underwhelming. No flavor whatsoever. Most of the yakitori was good, but nothing too memorable. I think the only good thing was the ramen which all of us enjoyed.

As for izakaya places go, it's probably the better ones in SF but not sure if that says too much. It's a small venue so expect long, long waits without any reservations. And if that's the case, I don't think it's worth it. I wouldn't mind going back but it would not be the first on my list for Izakaya. I'd rather drive down south and eat at Gochi.
