4th St Pizza

Sometimes in life we pass by the things that are GREAT right under our nose but because of well, LIFE I guess, we don't ever really partake of said things until one day we decide to do so and realize that it was just as GREAT as we thought it would be.

That is the case in point with 4th Street PIzza in San Jose. I had passed by this pizzeria in my car headed towards the 280 freeway so many times that I ALMOST stopped paying attention to it, but since I happen to love pizza I was always curious as to how good the pizza here really was. I had always heard from friends it was GREAT, the reviews on here for it are mediocre to good, and I knew I had to see for myself one day how good it really was so yesterday I decided to take the plunge.

I ordered a Sml Pepperoni & Mushroom pizza from 4th Street Pizza ( my stalwart favorite ) and 20 minutes later I picked it up. When I got there NOBODY WAS THERE. I mean, this place looks NICE inside and it's a veritable ghost town. There are like 8 big screen TV's playing sports, lots and lots of tables and booths and you could see that under any other circumstaces this place sees lots of traffic but because of COVID-19, NADA.

So I proceeded to go to the counter and this really, really nice White guy was there and rings me up. He must be the owner cos he proceeded to chat to me and told me how much he appreciated my business and how much business had been hurting for him and it was just a pleasant conversation. He is a really nice guy but I didn't catch his name.

When I got to the car I dug into the pizza and took my first bite. " MMMMM!!!! " WAS MY FIRST REACTION AS I ATE MY FIRST SLICE!!! LISTEN PEOPLE, THIS PIZZA LIVES UP TO THE HYPE. The way it was cooked with the light, almost focaccia-like bread, the vine-ripened tomato sauce that seems to have a little bit of wine in it, the spicy curls of pepperoni, lots of aged mozzarella cheese and fresh mushrooms and overall goodness of the pizza makes me think that the people who give this place negative reviews are just nitpicky and don't know anything about good pizza. This place ROCKS and I am going to continue to go back here again and again!

Now I KNOW I am not going to pass up the good things in my life as they come to me!

I saw the Groupon for a large speciality pizza with wings and decided to try this. I have had a lot of pizza so I would say this is okay. I did half/half. I liked the wings better than the pizza. It wasn't exceptional but it's not bad either. For the Groupon deal, it was a really good deal. This is definitely on the thicker side of crust. Parking is difficult because it's downtown. If you want a side of ranch or marinara, it's an extra $0.50 cents each so you'll want to ask for it when you place the order or when you pay.

4th Street Pizza has a great ambiance to enjoy some game time and pizza! But they have so much more on the menu too (sandwiches, potato skins, wings, etc.), and a full bar, which is great!

However, during my most recent visit, the female bartender didn't even know how to make a mixed drink. I didn't mind hanging out at the bar watching the Warriors game as she "tried", but on a regular day, a 15-minute wait for a single drink, with the bartender following a binder to make a cocktail, I consider pretty bad service.

On top of that, they made our pizza wrong. We asked for extra cheese, and the order taker repeated my order back to me correctly, but they put chicken on the pizza instead of extra cheese. And we didn't really wanna wait for a new pizza, so that kinda sucked. Also, there's nothing really special about the pizza here. The toppings are about average (we got pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage), they don't stand out from other pizza places, but at least they're fresh. I'd say the crust is below average compared to other pizza spots, and I've had both thin and thick crust here, there's just not much flavor or anything memorable or special about it. That being said, it's hard to go wrong with pizza, so if you're mainly looking to watch some sports, this is a cool option. If you're looking for a great pizza spot, this is not one of the top options in SJ. Still, lots of seating, and lots of TVs, and we had no problem requesting they play the Warriors game, since all the TVs had football playing when we first entered the restaurant last Sunday. The employee asked where we wanted to sit and immediately changed the surrounding TV's to basketball. That to me was great service.

Also, the buffalo wings are decent (better than the pizza IMO). But if wings are what you want, then Buffalo Wild Wings is probably a better option for watching sports (quality wings w/ more flavors to choose from).

Parking is generally difficult near downtown SJ, but we were lucky to find street parking out front on an early Sunday evening.

Even though my recent experience was not perfect, at least all of the workers were friendly (servers, bartenders, security, etc.), so that's a plus.

A girlfriend of mine raved about 4th street pizza all the time and thanks to a Groupon I came across, I decided to give it a try. I arrived here last night with my girls to enjoy some pizza and a cold pitcher and it turned out to be such a letdown.

The parking aspect alone was kind of a headache. So much for "easy" street parking- we circulated around the block and came up with nada!! Do yourself a favor and park in the parking structure across the street, @ 5 bucks it was an absolute lifesaver.

We walked into chaos and was greeted by jam packed tables and patrons stuffing their faces. Seems like a good enough sign. We head straight to the back in order to view the menu only to be barked at by the girl at the register asking if we were ready. Daaaaamn, can we get a MINUTE??

We went with the 4th Street Pizza and a single slice of cheese and headed off to find a seat. The pie took a bit of time but came out hot and fresh. Vegetable ingredients were fresher than expected and the tomato sauce is smothered on the dough- I'm a fan of that!!

2 stars over all because dining next to completely loud, obnoxious drunks is not an ideal fun for me. I seriously felt like I left deaf in my left ear that night.
Customer service is bad and regardless of the "deal" provided by Groupon, it doesn't justify shitty behavior. PASS!!!

This is place is pretty shady as it gets. They use old school machines, and they tell you they can't do itemized receipts. 'I owe $67 dollars when all I had was simple beers?!?!?'

She tried to break it down to me, but it doesn't make sense. Each beer is $10+?! Wtf.

It's 2021! I wasn't born yesterday. F**k this place.

I tried this place for the first time today, i had gotten the creamy garlic chicken pizza.

The food was great and they were able to make it pretty fast.
I would recommend this place if your a pizza lover!

I work a few blocks away and this is my go to for pizza DTSJ.
Really like the quality of the pizza and the toppings are pretty damn good. Crust and sauce is great. Perfect blend there.

And if the owner reads this. Thank you for kindness today.

Great place for Football Sundays! Must say they definitely accommodate their guests even in an overpopulated and hectic atmosphere.

My friends and I came to 4th Street Pizza at the peak time on the first Sunday of football this season. They were able to give us a table immediately and the bouncer (sorry if I'm using the wrong term) Raul, was extremely helpful with our larger party of 8. He even helped us with our chairs.

Definitely coming back here!

Came here for a gender reveal party since they have a huge space in the back for a larger sized groups and parties. They are located in the DTSJ area very close to the city hall there.

Pizza was alright, nothing too special about the pizza or nothing that stood out to me too much. It was a pretty slow day so not too sure why the bartenders here are SUPER SLOW. I think it took us about 30 mins to order a drink and for it to come out to us. IDK how or why it would take someone 30 mins to make a simple moscow mule...... They have it on tap for crying out loud.....

It should not take that long.... they started with 1 bartender then finally put an extra body back there for additional support... but sheesh still tooke just as long with the help at hand... still 20-25 mins for the same drink we ordered earlier. We even started ordering shots to think it would be easier for the servers but still the same wait time.

Can't say I'm a fan or that I'll be returning back to this spot for some pizza..... Tried and not too happy, many other pizza spots in SJ that are better serviced and taste better.

I was walking by when the basketball games on their big screen TVs were on. I decided to give it a try and I loved their SF style pizza with sourdough crust and big slices.
Ask for their specials on pizza by the slice and enjoy a great pizza for less than $3.00. (Not only cheese but their everything on it pizza)
Service is fast and courteous. Great place to come by and catch up on homework if not into games . I'm coming back for sure! Great customer service!!
