For some reason this place didn't show up in my Yelp search for a nearby restaurant, but luckily I also searched with Google Maps and found it.
This restaurant is very nice inside and has excellent food. Their French fries are great and they have some nice discounts for happy hour. Their staff was also kind and helpful.

During my recent visit to Cleveland, Ohio, I chose to stay in Solon. We found a neat family style restaurant with good food and even better cocktails. 56 Kitchen offers a menu with American fare in a fairly low light setting. They are located in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. At prime dinner hour there was plenty of seating due to the size of the dining room.
I had the meatloaf with potatoes and carrots and they all were delicious. The portions are large enough for the biggest appetites and likely have leftovers. Absolute worst experience we've had in a long time. Went for lunch on February 13, 2024 and ordered a burger. I asked for my burger to be medium rare (a very common cook for a burger) and after a somewhat long wait, it came out well done ... actually, beyond well done. It was burnt on the outside and completely dry and overcooked inside. I showed our server and she apologized, and ordered a second medium rare burger. After a little while the second burger came out and this time it was raw. Completely raw throughout. I showed our server and she called over the head chef. That was a complete waste of time; he had a piss-poor attitude and started making excuses and said there was a lot of stuff going on, but I pointed out that the restaurant was empty with only 3 or 4 tables occupied. Even our server was taken aback by how rude he was and the total lack of customer service he provided. He seemed peeved to even have to deal with me. He asked if I wanted something else and I said I had wanted a burger, but apparently their cook was incapable of cooking a medium rare burger. At that point, my wife and I left and vowed to never come back.
If the grill cook can't even make a simple burger to the proper temperature, that definitely, in my opinion, does not bode well for the cooking abilities throughout the restaurant. How this grill cook even got a job speaks volumes about the management staff and head chef.

Yelp claims I have already reviewed 56. So, Just a quick addendum about Saturdays dinner. I had the trout special, and SPECIAL it was. Matt the chef exceeded again. Plating was nice, the aeoli for the trout was out of this world. It is now Monday and I am eating the leftover couscous salid that the trout sat on from Saturday. It is SO DELICIOUS I had to interrupt my lunch to post this critique. Thank you Matt, and thank you Amy our server, for a wonderful evening meal.

The food is gourmet, the atmosphere is fun, the drinks are special. Often times I order one of the specials. The menu has entrees, sandwiches, and pizza pies, all great. Tonight there is a menu change in the works and no specials so I ordered the Arugula & grapefruit salad (I was afraid there would be too much grapefruit, there wasn't) made with pine nuts / fennel / olives / pickled fresno / red wine vinaigrette, and added a piece of lightly seared salmon. I like to eat only half my dinner and save the other for lunch later, this was tooooo good. I ate the whole thing! For my cocktail i did the "Kitchen Margarita" made with Milagro Silver / Cointreau / Lime / Jalapeno Simple / Cucumber. On a Hot humid evening, it was perfect!

A group of 12 had lunch. The table was ready. The waitress was wonderful. I like 56, and I ordered my usual, a veggie burger. When it arrived many people commented on the large "bun." It overpowered the small veggie patty inside. This veggie burger was not the norm. I was disappointed in it. The veggie patty was too small. The "bun" was too large. The kitchen needs to go half way on both....more patty, less bread. The patty with the veggie toppings was tasty. I ate it open-faced. The salad was good, but the lettuce is the spidery-like kind that is not a favorite, and it was in many salads that the group ordered. Salads need some broad leaf lettuce. Other meals were satisfactory. There are regular tables and high-top tables and a bar. The restaurant is pleasant. It's in a strip shopping center.

As an app we had the fabulous tempura green beans. Try them. With the meal I opted for a side salad instead of French fries. Both sides were very nice. For social distancing the center tables have been removed so everyone sits on either side against the wall. Staff wear masks. Carry out was popular this evening. The room was comfortable.
12 janv. 2017Avis précédentNice addition to the Solon area in the old BBQ place. Light and airy, nice venue. Large clean bar. Menu has a nice selection, including vegetarian dishes and gluten free. Sandwich bread is tall, so we ate our sandwiches open face. Bread was tasty. Only concern is to be able to get my mouth around the sandwich next time.

Would not recommend food was completely horrible and service sucked.....went there over the weekend with my husband and two kids can't remember our servers name but she had red hair seemed like she was more interested in nodding off in her phone than serving food was over cooked mayfield location is was better

Unexpected-all I have to say.
In this plain Jane plaza of random stores, you can find this unexpected restaurant. Inside, the atmosphere is modern industrial, which is a style I really enjoy. In the back is a large bar and some of the exposed kitchen.
The menu is American fare with a twist. Pictured is a twist of one of my favorites: vietname bun mi. It was called the bun mi bird. Instead of a traditional pork, it is buttermilk fried chicken (a bit over cooked/dry) mixed with pickled veggies, cilantro, and a spicy mayo. I had a bite, and it really did remind me of a bun mi (I've had quite a few growing up).
I had the flank steak on top of bleu cheese bachamel. I love bleu cheese a lot, but this sauce just had a slight hint only- still super delicious. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare (for the most part- 3/4ths). My arugula salad was perfectly dressed with a light vinaigrette that paired well with my steak. And do you see the pile of fried onions I got! I loved it.
The pizza was pretty good (for the the name) but they did not skimp out on the toppings. It was loaded with mushrooms and artichoke hearts. It was delightful- especially when adding some fried onions on top. I feel like it did lack something, but I'm not sure. Maybe acid?

Great place for dinner. I stopped in on a Tuesday and the service was perfect. The bartender was very attentive and professional. I ordered the veggie burger. My food came out hot and perfectly prepared. The vibe was super chill. I felt very relaxed and welcomed. I recommend this place to any and everyone. Stop by I promise you won't be disappointed
