Came in today hoping to get a holiday mug with my purchase, but was told that the store was out of mugs. Will you guys be restocking? If so, will you honor our receipt ($25+) from today, for the $1 mug promotion during our next visit?

      A:

Hello, yes, we will be restocking but our mugs are while supplies last per day. For this promotion, to obtain the mug, it will have to be in the same transaction that you spend $25 or more. No, unfortunately we will not honor from today's… more

Was intending on just passing through yesterday but decided to look at their offerings for future visits. Also wanted to ask about the name, "85°C".

Victor swept me off my shopper feet and I'm a fan of this place! I ordered the taro lavender milk latte (caffeine-free) with lychee jelly. Super YUMMY! I also received a complimentary mushroom whole wheat bread thing to try, too!! It was very delicious with cheese, egg, onion, and mushrooms. Just a quick reheat and it was wonderful!

I asked about the name. The owner believes that the optimal temperature for hot coffee to be drunk is 85°C (185°F). Sounds about right because I like my hot drinks at kid temp 160-165°F. I also like what I read about the founder's reasoning for opening 85°C. To make pastries and drinks affordable for everyone. I like that a lot.

Anyhow, the service, the food and drink, everything was great. The store is an access point for the mall and it's not the cleanest junction by the parking lot side, but I think that's partly due to the people who come through being pigs. The main area was clean and good. Another interesting note is that the owners don't allow staff to accept tips. I don't always like to tip. I often feel like I'm forced to tip in situations that don't warrant it. The service Victor gave me was so awesome, I was going to drop a tip but couldn't. I gave the second-best thing, my good words and sincere gratitude. I look forward to returning.

(This is a past review I wrote last year, but was incorrectly posted on another 85C Bakery Yelp Page in Sacramento** reposting now Nov '23)

      ----
My family has been coming here for the past few years whenever we're in Sacramento for our breakfast buns and pastries. The selection varies depending on the day of the week & time of day.
Oftentimes the garlic cheese/french garlic cheese bread that we like are sold out or there's only one or two left-- with one being burnt, etc.

Our other faves are the brioche, chocolate chip bowl, chocolate cookie bread, and the taro puff pastry.

We've also bought cake from 85C a few times in the past--the most recent being the Deluxe Strawberry Cream for my grandma's birthday.
Although nice in presentation, the cakes are dry and have a strong oil & artificial aftertaste...we were so disappointed.

The reason for the lower rating is due to a visit a few months ago* when the cashier charged us for 3 extra buns we didn't even buy. Not sure if it was an honest mistake or not, but it felt like they thought we wouldnt catch it on the receipt since we ordered 14 other bread & pastries... pastries...good thing we decided to check before we left the store and got a refund after telling them to check the boxes.

Not sure how they (visually) thought we got an elote bun & a ham and cheese bun when we got mostly sweet ones and they hand packed it themselves while calculating the total...ultimately, it didnt leave a good impression that the workers did a careless job & that we'll have to be careful and check what we're paying for during future
      visits...

This is our "go-to" place for decadent cakes. Since J&J closed we have toggled between here and Pegasus, but when we need a perfect-tasting cake we always go for the 85* Mango Delight Cake, which is absolutely Devine . What makes this even more of a "go-to" place is that they are located throughout California and the cakes are prepared daily and available. I was even able to get one at the last minute for a boating outing in So. Cal. It tasted just as good as the ones from Sacramento and they put it in the icebox before my picking it up so that it would be cool when served. We loved the almost frozen =version so much that we specifically requested one from the icebox when we pick them up in Sacramento. There are so many other yuppy treats at 85* degrees, that it is a test of one's willpower to get out of there without a giant bag.

Still love their mango cake! I Added seasonal decor

We come to this place every so often. We don't live close. We got a variety of things to try. I like their garlic cheese bread. That was delicious. I heated it up in the oven beforehand. The mango filled pastry was yummy. It was crispy and flakey. The strawberry short cake, I thought it was ok. My husband like it, though. I didn't care for the kind of cake they used. The blueberry muffin was good, but there were only blueberries on the top of the muffin. It was not throughout. The muffin had good flavor and it was moist. My husband picked an almond half-moon pastry. I didn't care for it. He thought it was a little plain. It was filled with cream and had almond slices on the outer part of the pastry.

The pastries are freshly made and pretty good.

Is it weird that one of my favorite parts about living in Japan were the bakeries? At almost every train station you would find a bakery with trays and tongs for you to select creative, affordable, and delicious baked goods. 85°C is the closest I have gotten to something similar in the US.

I can't vouch for its authenticity as far as Tawainese bakeries go, but I love this place. This location in particular is rarely busy during the week and is conveniently located by SF Market. They always have an amazing selection of sweet and savory breads, but the mango custard and boroh custards sell out fast--I always feel lucky to get one. I'm also always surprised by how affordable it is--each piece of bread is a few dollars, but they are massive in scale and heavy with fillings. A large full box is always less than $30.

I've only gotten drinks here a few times. You cannot really customize like other boba shops, but they have a diverse menu including seasonal options. If there was more seating I would give them a 5th star because this place is really just for grabbing and going, but I would love to sit down with a slice of cake and a drink sometimes.

I have to go in whenever I'm in the area. You should give it a try as well.

Found out that this bakery gem is a chain and found one in my hometown! We were introduced to it by our daughter in Utah. So I was so excited we had one nearby.

Shamelessly, my husband and I have tried almost everything when we were in Utah and the variety is different from the pastries in Sacramento. The bread dough is still heavenly, soft, and the flavors are really good.

Our favorites are any pastries that are "milk" and have the white, sugared milk flecks on top. The custard filled are my favorite!

The muffins we tried at the Sacramento location was OK and the milk pastries were soo good. I tried the ham and cheese pastry and it was so good too!

Service is always friendly and like the Utah location, the ambiance is so cute, neat, and inviting!
