A few of the things we loved here:
- Literary-themed cocktails aren't just cute -- they're actually delicious (husband got the Crime and Punish-mint, which was so good that I kinda regretted just getting a glass of wine)
- "Clam pie" pizza -- *dang,* it was good. Husband also loved his cheesesteak that included some sort of cherry pepper relish.
- Carrot cake was very tasty and -- I hate to spoil the surprise -- came as a HUGE slice. It's not just enough for two people to share -- it's probably enough for four. The epic size of it was fun.
- Great service! Our server was excellent, and all the food came out quickly.
The deviled eggs were OK, not as good as I expected from the description (prosciutto wasn't crispy, which I think would have been better). Tables and chairs are pretty small. Those are very minor concerns given how great the food is. I want to go back, like, immediately.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura L.Austin, États-Unis34084 mai 2024
I immensely enjoy Kramer's for its bookstore and the genial vibe of the restaurant. The staff was excellent in taking out orders, checking on us without being overbearing and very patient with us staying until a little past closing.
However, the food we had that night was abysmal. We ordered the rosemary+potato+bacon pizza, which was covered in thinly sliced raw potatoes. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was very dry and maybe burned? The BBQ seasoned fries were also extremely undercooked. I'm not sure what was going on with the kitchen or maybe this has a stronger breakfast fare, but we were underwhelmed at best.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Information sur le responsable du commerce

I grabbed a glass of wine and the caramel apple waffle. The waffle was not worth its price of $15 - the apple compote tasted like canned baby food and the whipped cream was not texturally appealing.
Service was lackluster but visible. They add 5% service charge for each check. I'd come back for their bookshop but not their food or cocktails.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Information sur le responsable du commerce

Ok let's start w the good: an absolutely darling place that's even better to enjoy when the sun is out! The cocktails are cute and also v delicious. The starters are p big and sufficed for meals for my friend and I, also I will say "Sticky Garlic Wings" implies saucy wings vs. dry rub but ok.... Came back for their literary trivia on Monday nights and got a huge pretzel and a pot of tea! The cons...the service is very hit or miss, they do not come by often enough and inside during trivia is worse, plus the music is played inside so loud it's like isn't this where people read too!? Also got the Kramer breakfast and I'll be nicer since I didn't get it during normal breakfast hours, but it was super lackluster for a place that mostly focuses on breakfast/brunch items.

I adore Kramers as a bookstore, but their brunch unfortunately did not even compare to their storefront in terms of quality. For starters, the service was extremely slow and our waitress was dismissive and rude. I have a red dye allergy, and saw that they had a cherry blossom waffle speciality with "cherry compote". I asked the waitress if this compote was made in house, and if it had red dye in it (the only times those sorts of things have red dye, they are from a manufacturer). She said yes, it was made in house, and no, it did not have red dye. I specially informed her that I had a red dye allergy. However, when I received my meal, it was very clear to me that this compote had red dye in it. I would have asked the waitress, but a different server brought out our food and she completely disappeared for the rest of the time we were at the restaurant. In addition to this, the presentation of the waffle was terrible, and was not at all as advertised. It was supposed to have rose petals and fresh compote, which is clearly not the case from the included photo. For $15, I was extremely disappointed. Lastly, no server came by for the rest of our time there, and we had to go up and ask for the check. I understand that they were busy, but the fact that we couldn't even get someone to give us the bill was a little extreme. I will be back to buy books, but not to eat at Kramers All Day.

Not sure where to start with All day. Came here for lunch and was seated. Not even a second after I sat down the waitress comes over and asks If I am ready to order. I told her I had just been seated. It then took her a while to come back and take my order. I ordered an iced latte, deviled eggs with prosciutto and avocado toast. After ai ordered my iced latte and deviled eggs she said ok thank you and was about to walk away and I said I wanted to order more. When my iced latte finally came after a while of waiting for it it did not taste that good. And she by accidentally put down on my table a little cup of what looked like
peanut butter. But she quickly took it away and said oops wrong table. This wouldn't bother me much but I had told her when I places my order how I was allergic to nuts. Luckily, I am not too allergic to it that if it's near someone they get sick or break out. The prosciutto on the deviled eggs were VERY salty/ tasted like fish which again I am allergic to so not sure if it was near fish or what but I did not eat it. Deviled eggs weren't good and the avocado toast was just ok. When it was time to pay, I felt that the waitress like shoved the card machine in my face sort of. And she was standing like looking at me while I was doing the tip part. It just felt odd.
I do think it's cool though that this place is a restaurant/ bar and bookstore all in one place. I was excited to try this place but sadly don't think I will be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Information sur le responsable du commerce

Great chocolate cake. Super moist and chocolatey cake, chocolatey frosting, with chocolate chips on the outside. There are a few strawberry slices in the middle layers of frosting that lighten up the chocolate overload. It's a huge slice for 2 people with leftovers.

My review is only based on their dessert menu. Every time I've eaten here or ordered from them, it's been for their cakes.
After having tried them quite some times, I can now say that I am deeply disappointed by their sudden change of recipe for their cakes (either the chef changed or the recipe/ingredients).
While their carrot cake used to be the best I've ever had in all the places I've been in the world, it is now not even average. The last time I got it, it came even burnt on the sponge, and the flavor was quite different from its usual. The same is for their chocolate cake, which now tasted as if it had some sort of liquor in it. I gave both cakes, as well as to their caramel cheesecake, 3 trials in the last period, and all the times they confirmed my impression that the recipe has changed.
While their service has always been good, welcoming and nice, and the ambiance is definitely worth the visit, I do not recommend the cakes anymore. Unless they go back to their original recipes, they lost two clients (as I was not the only person noticing)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Information sur le responsable du commerce

This is a great spot for a morning breakfast chat with some friends. The vibes are great and you can look for books when you're done eating! Our server was wonderful and I found the waffles to be very filling and yummy. I did think there wouldn't have been as good alone because the batter wasn't great but with the fruit and sausage, it was good! My friends said their meals were good too but I do think this place is overpriced for how simple their plates were (just some unbuttered toast with basic eggs and potatoes for like $20 seems a lil wild). Overall 3/5 but would come again for the company and atmosphere.

I love a combination bookstore/restaurant! Kramers is a very cool space with a pretty decent restaurant.
Service was quite slow--we spent a lot of time waiting for food or water. But service was nice! We ate outside which was very cool too.
The food was hit or miss. I didn't love the very dry Brussels sprouts or the super dense crab dip. But the chocolate cake was out of this world! I know what I want to eat on my birthday this year!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
