Quick review cause you need to visit before this iconic store is gone. This is a store where I window shopped both inside and out. I definitely could not afford even the sale prices. Better get there soon. All the stores are closing.

      Good bye Barney's.

      ***Shoe Department Review***

What is there not to LOVE about Barney's. Wish I could Insert heart emoji's here. :-)

From a large room decor out in all the designer brands. I can always catch a good sale here on Christian Louboutin's. Today, 12/29/16, I found a pair for $431. It was originally priced at $1579 (Attaching the picture) AND it was exclusively sold at Barney's.

The Shoe stylists (Delon is my favorite) are NOT sharks nor do they follow you around, as you try on every shoe. I love shopping at this store.

      Pros

      - Large floor that's sectioned off from other departments. So, you feel the entire experience of just shoe shopping. It's not in a cramped space
      - A lot of couches and chairs to sit while trying on shoes
      -Large selection of designer shoes
      -Excellent Customer service/Honest Sale Specialists.
      - You can always catch a good sale.
      - Young and hip crowd (New Money) when compared to Bergdorf (Old Money) that can get a little stuffy/snooty crowd.

Barney's is in a league unto itself. Very different from the 2 other "Big B's" (Bloomingdale's & Bergdorf). The store windows are usually decorated with avant guard fashion (as you can see from the pictures).

The first floor is a wonderland of high end, non-traditional department store handbags and accessories (Celine, Goyard). The bags aren't locked inside glass cases, if you want to touch one, look inside or venture close to a mirror to see how one looks with your ensemble, you are free to do so. They also have a beautiful display of jewelry from less well known (but extremely expensive) designers. Their fine jewelry department is also breathtaking!

This is the only store in Manhattan that carries Hermes, outside of, well, Hermes. The selection isn't huge but the fact that Barney's has it, is pretty amazing.

Downstairs is the Beauty Level which definitely rivals the one in Bergdorf (Bloomingdale's doesn't even come close). It is a wonderland of high-end cosmetics - don't come here looking for MAC, Clinque or Estee Lauder. Lila-B, Serge Lutens' & Cle de Peau Beaute will laugh at you! All kidding aside, the sales staff is super friendly and accommodating. Be mindful, when purchasing perfume, the sales staff defers to the larger sized bottle without asking - you have been warned!

The clothing is beautiful and wearable - unfortunately, not affordable. Then again, what do you expect from Barney's??

      What the heck!

Love this store you can only find some the most eclectic fun stuff here. Unlike other Barney's throughout the country you get a extra odd twinkle and warmth when you shop here.

Where else can you get cashmere glove mittens for $205 in the check our line? That's just fun...the people watching is worth the prices, even more fun.

This year one of the window displays was a man carving ice live for you. I took some pics with my phone but the good ones are on my camera...download later. I think live action window displays are the bomb!

It's cold outside but inside is a world of superficial delight. It's like going to an adult Disneyland. Get a e ticket and enjoy the ride! (If your not over 40 you may not get the e ticket thing...lol)

It was mayhem when I went to Barney's but it's not a fair assessment as this is the last few days of Barney's as we know it. But the big discount store going out of business signs makes this once upon a time luxury store look like a bargain basement..... But I guess it's a sign of the times.

One more iconic store bites the dust.. :'(

Barney's is an ultra high end New York department store. This is their flagship location. They have some of the most interactive and digital windows I have ever seen especially during the holidays.

They have a restaurant named Fred's on one of the upper floors. Usually I come here just to browse and see what is on the different floors. I normally see handbags and accessories on the first floor but they carry primarily designer merchandise.

On a future visit I will check out their restaurant but normally I come here in search of fragrances or unique items for the holidays. They are located on 61st St near Madison Ave. They have a separate store for men's as well.

Barneys is just a few blocks away from another larger, famous and renown department store at Lex and 59th. While Barney's isn't an entire city block it's still a force to be reckoned with.

Now in a world where the perception that bigger is better, how about just better is better? Am I saying Barney's is better than Bloomingdale's? It's a matter of taste and opinion but this store takes no silver medal in my books.

Barneys' displays are impeccable, the store while dense is not crowded, the space is made the most of and design is of the utmost importance. It doesn't take an expert to see that detail is a priority here at this store in that the entire store is top notch, everything.

Barneys is one of the reasons people want to go to NYC to shop, because they have what you are looking for. The reason we (my wife and I) came to Barneys? She just happened to sample a new fragrance in a magazine that she just had to have. In looking up retailers on line that had it guess who had it? Barneys get new of the new since NYC gets new of the new and this is the place where new of the new originates.

New of the new and best of the best, good high end stuff, the kind of stuff you won't see just anywhere and any city for that matter.

As Barneys has high end and such I don't feel nor am I made to feel not welcome. You know that scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts is made to feel like she doesn't belong? I don't get that feeling in Barneys but rather the complete opposite. The service and staff seemed very welcoming and friendly.

While my wife liked the Barneys at Copley Place in Boston I'm guessing she likes the one on Madison more.

Goodbye Barneys! Purchased about $4000 worth of items for under $700. The place is a mad house on weekends and the staff overwhelmed and overworked but the deals are insane, especially on designer shoes that are normally never discounted. Pro-Tip: make friends with sales associates ;)

Visiting NYC from LA can be quite stressful when you pack lightly and need to stay longer and go do some quick shopping. I was greeted quickly by a friendly employee who asked if I needed help with anything. I wasn't really there to get what I wanted I just thought I would stop and check out what they had just in case.

Lucky for me this gentleman was very fashion savvy and pointed me in the direction of their newest merchandise and accessories. Long story short I ended up spending upwards for $3200 thanks to their customer service. Unfortunately I was short on time and had to later exchange the merchandise that didnt fit but I there was not problem there. I would love to see a larger selection next time but Barney's came through this time, got some shoes and a great shirt which is now my favorite shirt. Got lots of compliments at the evening dinner and I have to write them a great review for helping me out quickly and efficiently.

Although it turned into a liquidation war zone, as long as you know what you need/want you're going to leave happy

Jan 2020 through First week Feb was the clutch time to go. I went looking for jeans
I got a bunch of JBrand jeans for 13-45 dollars (YES, $13), Derek Lam jeans 325 now 40, navy leather Barneys jacket 1100 now 90
Chloe shoes I have been eyeing for some time 1400, now 400.

There was a lot of stuff when I went. I stopped by a few days later and almost nothing (decent) was left.
my friend bought some makeup, but a lot of it we later found was dried out or poor quality. Even "high end" brands like givenchey, just dried up mascara.

If you're looking to browse, it's really a mess (understandably so at this point), so good luck. You might find a deal, but you'll be sweating working your way through the lawless dumpster fire that is remaining, and the 10 ppl in line for a single dressing room.

But hey, if you have the time, you might leave with something that makes you smile!! :-)

Also, please be nice to the staff. Perhaps they have wronged you in the past, but right now they are on a sinking ship and just trying their best to get things decently organized and out of the store!!
