Entergy Giant Screen (formerly IMAX theatre) is good fun and education for all ages. During our visit we watched Oceans 3D. The showing lasted about 26 minutes. Ticket cost for two of us was about $14. If you bundle this with the Aquarium discounts are given. There are concession stands that serve things like popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, and soft drinks. Viewing the show inside the theatre is not an issue with the curvature of the screen and stadium seating. There were several other shows listed, please go to there website for content and times.

      Enjoy!

We just saw "Our Blue Planet: Oceans 3D" today. It was a short, 24 minute 3D film about oceans and their conservation. It's was very child appropriate (I have a kid that HATES seeing anything "food chain" related and there was none of that). The screen actually is giant so I'd advise sitting about halfway back. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon and there were a grand total of six other people in the theater.

Also, be warned, don't be late! It's not like a regular theater that has lights along the walk ways; it's friggin dark! We were sitting down right when the show started and the kid had a tumble. She's fine; don't worry.

I can't attest to ticket prices; we each got a free ticket with the purchase of our Aquarium tickets. They've also go a concession both with typical movie snacks and drinks. Perhaps if the film were longer than 24 minutes. But they do have tons of other shows, too!

It's easy to find; follow the signs just past the aquarium, facing the Mississippi River. You'll see it.

It was fun and I'm glad we went! I've now got a kid that wants to save the otters and the coral reef! Bonus!

We used to call it IMAX.

Today we viewed HURRICANE ON THE BAYOU, as part of the 4 part ticket we purchased online from Audubon.
      Large format.
      Dolby sound at it's best.

      Moving.
      Beautifully shot.
2006 film, just a year after Katrina.
Twas fresh and one felt empathy for the people of Louisiana.

      Wetlands.
      Where are we NOW ?

The documentary felt old and low quality. The film / focus was grainy. Also it had a made by a young person for young people vibe about it. It was informative. (New Orleans hurricane Katrina) but it was an environmental movie about the wetlands. Not so much about the destruction of New Orleans.

Super hi-tech Imax theatre, immense in scale and located near the nifty Audobon Aquarium. This venue sports one of the rare flat screen Imax 3D with hi definition imaging.
One of the special films on the roster "Hurricaine on the Bayou" tells the tale of Katrina and her effect on Louisiana wildlife and wetlands. It's a epic story of revival and survival, of regrowth and the spirit of the land and nature- all in fabulous 3D. Must see.

I've only been here a handful of times, but not because I'm not a fan. It's just not on my regular rotation of places to go (and I'm not a huge movie person to begin with. It's hard to sit still for that long. Which isn't terribly surprising if you've met me.)

Our IMAX is probably just like every other IMAX, I'd imagine. Except ours sells beer! Yet another reason New Orleans is better than the rest of the universe. Do YOUR movie theaters sell beer? Doubtful. Really, I should give them another star for the whole beer thing, but I'll wait until I go back for another visit. It's been a while...

We started our tour of the city's Audubon attractions with a show at the IMAX.

We saw the Under the Sea 3D. It was really cool. The way that the fish and seals seem to swim all around you is amazing. It was a neat movie, though I'm sure the others are great as well.

It's right next to the aquarium, so make it part of your stop there.

Note: If you are going to visit the other Audubon attractions like the Aquarium, Insectarium or Zoo, you should get the discounted tickets to all of them which are good for five days after your first entry.

I usually don't watch museum films, but since it was part of the "Audubon Experience", then we had to make sure to get our money's worth. There is only one theater room, so they can only show 1 of the 3 movies at a time. This can be a bummer if you're keen to see the Oceans movie but the next showing is 3 hours away, so you settle for the Dinosaurs movie showing up next in 10 minutes. Each of the movies are in 3D and last 25-45 minutes each, not too long that it takes away a big chunk of the day. The theater is large and clean, with more than enough seats for the patrons. As a fun bonus, they also have a full concession stand, with popcorn, icee drinks, nachos, etc.

I am incredibly unsatisfied with this theater. Yes it's "big" and all, but most people who come here have children in strollers. They make you lock your stroller upstairs and carry your children downstairs. First of all, I'm afraid our stuff will get stolen/car seat... Second of all, I'm assuming it's not handicap accessible either. Which is incredibly unfair to those who have to live their lives in wheel chairs, but are still trying to make the best of it by exploring NOLA. Also, for a bottle of water, it is $3. So bring your own. Popcorn pricing is Good compared to regular theaters I will say that. Other than that, I've seen way better "IMAX" theaters...

This was super nice! I love that you can use your aquarium ticket to get in one show at no cost! Concessions looked nice, but we just had lunch so just got a water! The theatre is huge!! We saw hurricane on the bayou & really enjoyed it! Highly recommend to anyone who experience Katrina or wants to learn more about the wetlands!
