Decent service, and great location. Helpful staff. Some great events and updates on what is happening. Parts of the venue can do with update and clean. Prices can be a little dramatic, especially on Race days.

I suppose if you are a race goer you would have this event on your annual event diary.
If you are not then you might be tempted to put it under "One to avoid"?
Friday is Oaks Day known as "Ladies Day" that does not compete with Ascot but try's hard too make a show with various popular music groups coming down later in the month. Of course The Derby now held on Saturday afternoon is the main Hullabaloo,
when traffic helicopters and the entire populous appears to come ,well not everyone, not me now, why , well I prefer to watch the telly in the safety and comfort of chez moi!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 014 mai 2014Avis précédentAgain this year the pop groups and others come to the concerts. This year was my second Derby Day spent on The Hill in the middle of Epsom Racecourse. It has to be the best free family fun day you can get, all for the price of a train ticket down to the course (we actually went down for a birthday so the daytime celebrations continued well into the early morning in Sutton)!
I watched every single race, and there's nothing more fun than choosing a horse in the race guide and standing up with the rest of the crowd to cheer it on. My bets are only virtual, my cousin put down £14 and got back £5.80, but I prefer to spend my money in the rows of markets with fresh food, clothes, and other bits and pieces.
You can get the usual greasy fun fair food, but we took our own picnic, including picnic blankets and sun shade tents - yeah we actually got a bit of a tan despite the few black menacing clouds! There are lots of rides within the racecourse, although the bigger ones are set up on the outside, and there's a huge music stage as well as karaoke performers throughout the market.
The one thing I don't like is at the end of the day when everyone leaves the place looking like a pigsty, I mean c'mon the only reason they employ rubbish collectors is because the public are lazy and uncaring. It doesn't take 30 seconds to carry your rubbish bags to the big skips they have there. Just bin it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tony H.Reigate and Banstead, Royaume-Uni4346514501 sept. 2013Avis mis à jour
I don't think I have ever mentioned that they have a great Family weekend here and if your into evening entertainment, Popular Groups feature.

Did watch "The Oaks " won by a horse called "Talent" ,I might have known as BGT is on now!
10 juin 2011Avis précédentUnlucky Your Maj, those French por mon or whatever won it! In fact he celebrated early! Did go down to see the market, and it was not that bad, there was a huge crowd and Bill and Kate did come, Did not stay to see the main event but did see the first race. Would have lost my shirt if I had backed a horse I picked just for fun, Lesson there?Any way check out their web site as Texas and other groups are playing there soon. Rock on Yelpers!
25 mai 2011Avis précédentEvery year in June its "DERBY DAY" usually around the first available Saturday. The Queen has a horse of course running, however has never won it in all Her reign! No idea if Kate & Bill are coming, but can you imagine how many would throng to the course if they did! I do not bet but love to see the horses, and the crowds, not the traffic, and in good weather it is a real treat to see the Hoy Poloy with their penguin suits and the ladies in their bird feather hats! Better for me to watch on the telly, would not see much otherwise.

Last year I went with some friends on a bus from Morden to experience the Epsom Derby. It was great fun. It is free to go inside the racetrack and loads of people where having barbeques, picnics, drinking, betting and having a laugh. There where bands on huge stages, a funfair, loads of stalls and stands. It was brilliant and I was elated, but slightly gutted I had not gone beforeso if you thinking about it. Stop thinking, get some mates on the phone and get down to the Epsom downs for Derby Day.
By the way from the racecourse you can see for miles.even into central London and Wembleyamazing views.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Yee Gan O.Londres, Royaume-Uni1388229878584 juin 2009Avis mis à jour
If you're looking for the car park with the great view of London, it's easier to find this week as there are signs up for the Derby - it's visitor parking 18.

Having been to school at Epsom College, I have to confess to a few shudders looking at the racecourse as it was used as part of the annual torture known as the inter-house cross country competition in Janaury when the soft brown undersoil became an muddy, squelchy mess and every step meant half your trainer (sneaker for the Americans) sank into the mud.
That almost makes me feel sorry for the horses. The school used to give us the afternoon off school to go to the Derby in the days when it used to be run on Wenesdays, so a positive memory there of us hanging round the helicopter landing pad to catch a glimpse of celebrities arriving.
These days, for commercial reasons, the Derby has been moved to Saturdays and the derby course can be beautiful when bathed in golden sunlight as it was when I drove past it on the way into work this morning. It can be great atmosphere with a picnic on the hill in the middle of the course. However, you can't really see the whole course easily from any point due to this hill.
I was going to give the course 3 stars but I added a star for the view over the whole of London that you get from one of the car parks. Amazing on New Year's Eve when you see fireworks from literally miles and miles away. - Membre Qype (tabun3…)Londres, Royaume-Uni2524619526 nov. 2008
We went on a normal race day, plenty of parking in the course for disabled drivers, very helpful staff with wheelchair and one carer goes in free. Fun day out for all the family.

Epsom race course is such a great place, fantastic in the summer to take the family and friends for a nice picnic, it may be just a plain racecourse and for some people it may just be a bit of grass, but when it gets to summer and the deby day is here the racecourse fills with people having fun. derby day at Epsom race course is one of my favorite days of the year, i usally spend it with my family and friends there, its not all about the racing for me its the people the markets, and the funfair.....i would recomend it to anyone, ur have a great day!
