Absolutely the BEST bagels I've ever tasted in New York. H&H Bagels is a New York icon as it's been featured in "Sex and the City," "You've Got Mail" and more. Their bagels are freshly baked on premises, very soft with the perfect consistency and excellent quality. Their bagels will not break your teeth. H&H Bagels are reasonably priced. This location during high traffic times during the day has long frustrating lines. There is no seating as it accommodates New York's hustle and bustle of "on the go" or "time is money" way of life.
I rate it four stars because it's CASH only as H&H Bagels does not accept credit cards in any form.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 11 sept. 2009
I found this place on my NY guide book initially and wanted to take my sister from Japan, hoping to experience a great NY bagel.
First of all, I was disspointed that they don't put anything in bagels for you. You have to either go home and make it yourself or buy whatever you want to put in your bagel at the store and make it yourself in the middle of a busy street in NYC! Either way, you will not get exactly what you want instantly at the store. So we ended up eating plain bagels in the central park.
My sister had a bluberry bagel and it was good. But the bagel I had, which was cinamon and raisin....horrible. It was hard and I barely tasted cinamon or raisn....There were only a couple raisnis in it.
They have a good price but I wouldnt go back there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 28 juin 2011

A Eulogy.
Oh how I will miss your hot, fat cinnamon raisin bagels at 2am!!! Your stash of varied cream cheeses in the fridge and every manner of lox!!! Oh how I will miss determining the most freshly made bagels by the smell from 3 blocks away. No everything bagel has ever tasted so good fresh out of the oven.
I shall miss the freezer stocked with Nestle Toll House chipwiches. I shall miss the grouchy woman at the register. I shall miss walking out your front door with a full, warm brown bag (why does that sound so wrong?). H&H, my life is forever changed by your departure.
WHY OH WHY HAVE YOU LEFT ME?????????????
(P.S. Yelpers - they are not yet closed - you have until WEDNESDAY, June 29th to buy as many baker's dozens as possible. RUN!)Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 10 nov. 2010
Great bagels, but that's as far as that goes.
There is very little customer service going on besides your interaction with the person behind the register which isn't very nice. I also am not a fan of having to purchase your 'add-ons' yourself, then having to put it all together yourself as well. It just makes for a time consuming and frustrating experience.
I would suggest coming here to just get a bunch of bagels to bring home; put whatever you want on it at home. Expect to spend quite a bit of time here if you're trying to put together a salmon and cream cheese bagel for yourself. I'm just sayin' ...Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - phil h.San Francisco, États-Unis891105453310 juin 2009
Thank God my friend Lori lives two blocks from H&H - otherwise I would have spent my entire trip on the subway to get my fix every day.
I've had H&H Bagels before, actually at a cafe in San Francisco that has them flown in daily. As good as they are there they pale in comparison to when they come out of the oven all hot and fresh. Sure, they are a bit pricey at $1.30 each, and it's a bit of a pain that they don't put cream cheese, butter, etc on them for you but I figured out that's a good thing because the lines would be even longer if they had to do so.
Take a look at this goodness and if you don't drool I'll buy you a coke:

My friend is flying into SF in a couple of weeks...now the only question is how many should I have her bring me?Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 16 févr. 2011
Tasty, though relatively expensive bagels. Service is bare bones. Better than most of the generic cafes which line this part of Broadway. Worth a visit if you're in the mood for some doughy goodness.

I walked 30 blocks - with my mom - to get here.
I was not disappointed.
Bagels were yummy!
NY attitude classic.
We waited in a quickly moving line. They were out of most all types of bagels except for plain and we nabbed the last onion bagel for my sister - but she couldn't meet us till later so I ate most of hers.
I LOVE NY bagels. They are different.
No seating - so we found a park bench nearby to eat.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 22 avr. 2008
I like H&H...I didn't love it, but I liked it.
The bagels were soft and warm and were definitely fresh, but I felt like it was lacking a bit of something to make it spectacular. There was definitely a line to get in, but thankfully it moved pretty quickly. As other reviewers have mentioned, getting the bagel is the easy part - anything else you want to add (shmears, butter, cream cheese, etc.) comes in grocery store sizes so be prepared. The whole set-up is also a bit inconvenient - the bagels are located near the cashiers while everything else (including beverages) are located on a wall on the other side...you pretty much have to get what you want (cream cheese, juice) before you get in line, or already know what you're getting by the time you get to the cashier.
Be prepared - it's also cash only.
I think Ess-A-Bagel is better.
A plus about this place is that it's close to Central Park so you can definitely enjoy the bagel in the relaxed atmosphere of a park.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3 juill. 2010
My coworker ordered about 4 dozen of these damn things from New York. OMG were they good! All you need to do is toast them and throw on a cream cheese spread of choice and go to town. The texture is truly different from bagels one can get here. Chewy and hella tasty. I guess it is true that the NY water makes the difference.
Took a trip out there and decided I had to try one of these bad boys fresh. One thing I noticed was the variety of different spreads you could choose from. Let me tell you it was better than the ones that were flown in. Well they better be...these were fresh!
I think we packed around 3 dozen and hand carried them back to LA. Now this was about 2 years ago so hopefully the quality hasn't changed as some have noted.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
