I made reservations and I'm glad that I did. It was super crowded as I was leaving.

Service was attentive although she messed up my beer order. 10 oz versus 20 oz.

I got the ribs and found it to be delicious. I wish there was more Cole slaw.

      The atmosphere is very lively!

      The bathroom is another world!

(I also tried the shepherd's pie on my food tour. I thought it was ok).

The food was authentic and delicious. Our server was very helpful to navigate the menu. We ordered the pea soup for appetizer which is a must try Quebec item! The Shepards pie was not bad but not the best. Main dishes were the Sugar Shack Plate, chicken waffles (POULET FRIT ET GAUFRES), Shepherds Pie, meat pie, omelette everything were tasty . Of those, the top winners are the chicken waffles and Sugar Shack Plate.
Sugar shack plate is a big entree (if you fill up on appetizers then might be difficult to finish by one person). Chicken waffles were soft and perfectly seasoned

Not to the bad comments - (none are food related). There is no parking nearby as it is in old quebec. We parked 9 mins walking distance away. There is also one common area for bathrooms (no male/female separated). Bathroom stalls are separated but handwashing area is common outside.

Steps away from le Chateau Frontenac and with a French Canadian dominated menu, La Buche boasts a casual and rustic atmosphere.

Our party of 5 was fortunate and got immediate seating around 7:30 pm on a Friday evening in January. We were warmly greeted and complementary appetizers materialized quickly. The front house staff were friendly, attentive, and switched effortlessly to English after we exhausted our very dusty High School French.

Similarly our meals were very good, the Shepherds Pie (Pate Chinois), 1/2 rack of ribs, and Tourtiere, were well regarded by my fellow diners. I was particularly impressed with the puffed pastry topper for the Tourtiere. As for myself, I had the daily Poutine special for which the cheese curds were fresh and squeaky, and the gravy dark and flavourful.

As for pricing, it's mid-priced for the olde town i.e., inside the ancient city walls. Nothing is cheap in the lovely tourist pasts of town. Be sure to visit the restaurant rest room, the design is fairly unique yet exceedingly practical and efficient.

      Bon Appetit.

We are traveling from NYC, found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try, never disappointed! The decor is very unique, staff are super friendly and helpful. We ordered shepherd's pie, trout and pea soup. Really good! Definitely recommend this place to anybody! Also get their beer, good beer.

Came in for a breakfast on a blistery Saturday without a reservation and the restaurant was nearly full around 9 a.m.

We were seated immediately and were offered a menu by a very génial server. We opted for hearty breakfast as we had a day of travel ahead of us; waffle with fried chicken, 2 eggs with a sausage and crêpes with chocolate and banana with some much needed coffee, orange juice and their delicious mimosa! I loved that they have a mimosa promo of $12 for the first glass and subsequent glasses were just $2 thereafter!

The food arrived leisurely which was fine as this ga e us some time to look around their well decorated dining room.

All our dishes were well prepared and delicious and we were well attended to for top ups for our coffee and the second glass of mimosa.

The friendly staff were happy to let us practice our french and very accomodating. As we were paying our bill, we noticed that there was a discount coupon of 15% for their merch/souvenir just a fee doors down with the same name which we happily took advantage of.

We look forward to returning the next time we are coming through the city for more discoveries!

Service was quick and attentive and luckily they spoke English with our terrible French. The food was very good, even though the Grandmother's omelet wasn't seasoned very well, it had plenty of mushrooms! The side of potatoes were puffy and crispy. The French toast with apples and the heavenly caramel was amazing and very filling.

The interior was like a cozy cabin, which was much appreciated. The bathroom is fun too (and honestly very efficient).

Located inside the walls of old Quebec City, this restaurant is busy in the summer, with many tourists and decently priced. Reminds me of a Jack Astors.

The food was decent and their menu consisted of French Québécois dishes, nothing too crazy and a lot of safe choices that cater to the masses.

The rabbit legs were good, the bbq sauce was plenty and overpowering and the beef tartare was ok.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, told me I had to come here. This restaurant probably boasts as one of the more authentic Quebecois cuisine, and my goodness, it is worth coming here.

I walked to get here in the snow and high winds for a hearty breakfast and it was lovely. Everything tastes fresh and mightily delicious. It is not the cheapest ticket in town, but not one foul (or rather fowl) thing was to be found. The efficient service, the really cute wait staff, the courteous atmosphere, and yes, portions that will be sure to leave anybody smiling and happy they stopped in. Looking out the window and seeing Old Man Winter blow on by while in the warmth of cozy Canadian comfort food can surely make anybody feel great.

I can now join the everyone ranks and say to you yes, you, try check it out and eat something from here. Do not dilly dally, as soon as you feel it, do it.

Charming restaurant with very cozy interiors. The tables are close to each other and hence have a noisy ambiance, but that didn't bother us.

This place can get pretty crowded, so reservations are absolutely recommended. We had made reservations and were seated right away in a cozy corner spot. We were greeted by a very sweet server. She was very attentive and friendly.

We got Sangria and Gin & Tonic to drink, along with foie gras to start. For the mains, we got a plate of deer tartare and salmon tartare, each of which comes with salad and fries. The food portions are pretty large. They also gave us complimentary fried pork skin with pickled veggies before the meal.

Great food, loved the foie gras, and had an enjoyable experience.
