A lovely winery with an incredibly beautiful landscape!
Making a reservation online for a tasting was very easy. Finding the winery was also pretty easy and there was plenty of parking available.
We showed up about an hour early with the hope to explore the grounds. However it started to rain. We were able to start our tasting early.
The wines we had were fabulous. A great showcase of grapes in the area. The gentleman leading our tasting was great - he let us sub in a wine, answered all of our questions, and even provided a map so we could see where each grape was grown.
I'd absolutely recommend this winery to anyone visiting the area and would love to return in the future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jill M.Los Angeles, États-Unis1184527 avr. 2024
This place is actually a beautiful little slice of heaven off the beaten path in Sonoma. Just gorgeous! We went for a tasting and ended up becoming members because the wines were as good as the views.
And Brad, who tended to us during our tasting, was amazing. He was easy to talk to and made our experience so pleasant. A little nice touch that I would add is that he personally included a note in our first club shipment. Just a great personal touch!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eugene H.Santa Rosa, États-Unis0718 mai 2024
I feel especially moved to review this winery because my wife and I were just there to see a fun local band "the Bluebyrds". The wine there is great but the general ambiance is worth a visit. The place is surrounded by many types of plants old and new. The pergolas are well used with flowery plants hanging like works of art. And don't miss the artwork indoors. Scenic! There is a very large orchard of lavender and you might check for the time of year it is in full bloom. This place can be meditative.

So picturesque and peaceful. Matanzas Creek Winery has been on my bookmarks for a while particularly because their lavender field stood out to me, so I'm glad I finally got to experience it, although not at peak lavendar season. I came here with a couple gf's and it was September, so the lavender fields weren't as purple or fragrant. We still enjoyed walking through the fields and around the property after our tasting.
Our host was very attentive - it was a hot day and he noticed every time we were dodging the sun. Every time he came out with the next pour, he fixed the umbrellas for us. My gf's and I all enjoyed the wines. We were saying it would be a great place to get a membership. I currently live out of state but if I were back to visit, I'd def consider it. It was already gorgeous, but I imagine it's even more gorgeous in the fall with all the foliage, and in the summer in peak lavender season.
They have a cute little gift shop inside. There's indoor and outdoor seating for the tastings. There are tables around the property so it'd be a nice place for a picnic as well. Would definitely come back if I'm in Sonoma county again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15 janv. 2024
We stopped at Matanzas Creek during our visit to the Napa and Santa Rosa area and it did not disappoint. The lavender gardens created such a beautiful backdrop for our wine tasting, and the service was incredibly friendly.

I was a member of this winery for a year... I would not recommend anyone join the wine club.
Wine clubs are all about hospitality and experience. Unfortunately, the only person that I had excellent service from was Sergio. I used my membership benefits at La Crema twice (sister winery) and the second time I visited they remembered me! This never happened at Matanzas while visiting countless times as a member.
As a member of Matanzas I was able to reserve complementary charcuterie plates, while this was much appreciated they never once remembered or brought it out without me asking directly for it. If you ever have an issue and give constructive feedback via email they will not respond.
I was only able to attend one event due to conflicting schedules. I had reservations for a February release party that I could not attend because my flight got canceled and they would not refund my money.
Then I attended another Sunset Summer event that was advertised as a bring your own food/picnic event. They gave a splash of rose at the entrance and then you had to purchase glasses of wine or bottles. So underwhelming and fully represented the ethos of doing the bare minimum for their members.
Overall, I enjoyed the wines and the lavender fields and products on site but sadly this winery misses the mark with creating experiences or connections with their members.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Paula M.East Oakland, Oakland, États-Unis091329 avr. 2024
This review is primarily for the club member experience. The winery offers club member events at a relatively nominal charge of $25pp - ok no big deal and I figure I'd rather have to buy a ticket to be certain of a good experience. Ehhh...I get there halfway into the event and clearly a lot of folks camped themselves out next to the only two food stations (which were just card tables) so they could fly in and snatch every one of the dozen or so bites that arrived out of the kitchen at a pace of what seemed to be every 18 minutes. So no food for me . Yes you could have as much wine as you wanted but I can just as easily do that at home. I'd prefer to see them ratchet down the number of club parties, charge a higher ticket price and do it right - add a few roaming servers with the food and maybe offer a couple of tours of the lavender garden.
The tasting room staff are always lovely, the property is gorgeous and I live right down the road so I'll keep coming back but I hope they reconsider offering just a couple of higher end events.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 10 mars 2023
This place has become a part of the fabric of our lives in Sonoma County. Throughout the year, we leverage the membership program to play bocce, picnic, enjoy the lavender and the great wine.
Their red blends are delightful and my favorite to pick up each time. Nestled in the foothills of Sonoma Mountain, this spot is beautiful and a lovely hidden gem.
Not to mention the staff are incredible! They greet us so warmly and by name each time we visit.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Clay L.Los Angeles, États-Unis1814573 avr. 2024
Amazing outdoor space. Great wines and friendly staff. I came here with my family and friend 4 years ago and had such a great time I returned just recently for amazing vibes in laying bocce, cornhole and walking through the lavender.
