MAYBE I SHOULD LISTEN TO MY WIFE -
Yesterday while I was busy in the Office doing Office Stuff and I was in a Very Heavy Constipated Thought (no, wait, that didn't come out right) - I was really thinking hard (no, wait, i've never done that) - okay, I was on Facebook doing my thing when my Lovely Wife stuck her head in the Office and said; (something, something and, well, you know, that trumpet sound the adults make in the Charlie Brown shows - that's it - that's what I heard) - anyway. Later on that day it was getting close to our Dinner time when she said: "Are you ready to go to Packsaddle?". "Okay, Packsaddle?", I replied back. She then said; "Yes, that's what we talked about earlier." My, my, my, what was I thinking. I then replied; "Oh, I thought you said "Crock-Pot, or was it Crack-Pipe, I can't remember." - anyway, I guess we are going to Packsaddle for Dinner.
Joe, Nancy's son, is with us for Christmas and we are all headed to Packsaddle Bar-B-Que. They are also the place where the Hot-Rods, Custom Cars & Corvettes meet up for Lunch every third-Saturday of each month - and we take the Vette-Jet and show it off as well. They had that last Saturday but we didn't make it to that one - and Santa was also there so you could take your picture with him with your own camera - our loss. But Packsaddle is worth going to more than once a month. They do have some really good Bar-B-Que. When we arrived there were a lot of people here, we were greeted and took a booth of our choice.
McKenna is our Server and we looked over the menu trying to decide what to order. My Wife has ordered the same thing three-times-in-a-row and guess what, that's what she wants again. Their "Texas Toast Melt"; Two Slices of Buttered Texas Toast with Choice of Meat - 1/4lb- (chose sliced Brisket), comes with 2-slices of Cheese with Chips on the side. We also ordered a 'Sharable', their "Onion Rings"; Hand-Cut & Hand-Battered. Joe decided to go with the 1/3lb Sliced Brisket drizzled with Bar-B-Que Sauce, chose Cole Slaw & French Fries as his two-sides. Also ordered a Shiner-Bock. I am going with the "Poor Boy"; Sliced Brisket, Sliced Sausage, Pickles, Onions & Bar-B-Que Sauce on a Toasted Soft Style Bun, served with Chips.
While we waited for our food, we chatted, McKenna stopped by a couple of times - and more and more people came in to enjoy some of San Angelos finest Bar-B-Que. Some of our Friends also arrived and chatted with us for a while - everyone knows about Packsaddle. Even tho they are really busy with Take-Out orders and arriving customers, our food arrived in a relative good time - and it all looks pretty good.
I Loved my Poor Boy Sandwich. The Sliced Brisket is really Tenderlicious and goes very well with the TastyFlavorfulCrunch of the Sausage - and the Bar-B-Que Sauce is some really goooood stuff - with a bottle of it on each table. There is also a bottle of Ranch on each table and goes very well with the Onion Rings, which disappeared quickly - guess they were good. Joe enjoyed his Sliced Brisket and his sides and my Wife Loved her Texas Toast Melt - and it does just that in your mouth. I know because I had some of hers and it was the same as last time - it's Really Gooood. Anyway, this was a great idea my Wife had about going to Packsaddle, even tho her 'Crock-Pot' recipes are some of the Best Ever - and I'm not going to say anything about that other thing - guess I as having a flash-back to the 60's - or something.
We Love everything we have ever had at Packsaddle and McKenna earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award. Check out Packsaddle on Facebook; Packsaddle Bar-B-Que - and On-Line - they have the Best Frito-Pie around, they call it; 'The Saddle' and I've had that three-times now. Only in Texas can you put Chili in a bag of Fritos and call it 'Pie' - Ya Gotta Luv It.
On the way home (in the truck) we enjoyed another Beautiful San Angelo Evening. Ya Gotta Luv West Texas.

It's Saturday, but not just an ordinary Saturday, it's the Third Saturday of the month and that is something Special. There is a Car Show of Corvettes, Hot Rods and Old Cars of Yesteryear all fixed up for show that takes place at "Packsaddle Bar-B-Que" not far from the House. We have been to Packsaddle several times but always missed the Car Show Saturday due to us being out of town, extra busy or on the Saturday we can go, a Special Car Show is held someplace else in town.
This time we are here and ready - and it's taking place. No Rain predicted and the temp is going to be below 100 degrees - until a little later on this afternoon. The Vette-Jet is all shiny and ready to show - and we are also. It starts at 10am but we arrived about 10:45am or so. Parked the Vette-Jet in front, dropped the top and it's ready. We decided to eat first and then walk around to see the other Beautiful Cars & Trucks.
Walked in and grabbed a booth near the front, looked over the menu while our Server, Sarah, is getting our drinks. Diet Coke for my Wife and an Iced Tea for me. I know what I want, "The Saddle", which is their answer to 'Frito Pie'; Fritos layered with Chopped Brisket & Beans, topped with Cheese, Jalapenos, BBQ Sauce & Sour Cream - served in a Frito Bag. My Wife is going with their "Chopped Brisket Sandwich"; BBQ Sauce mixed in the Brisket with Pickles & Onions on a Toasted Soft Style Bun. Served with Chips.
While we waited for out food we watched the Awesome Cars outside - with some still pulling up for 'show'. Soon our food arrived and my 'Saddle' is filled to the brim and is packed full of Good Stuff. My Wife's Brisket Sandwich also has a lot of Brisket packed in there and after a couple of bites she said that; "This is the Best Brisket Sandwich I have ever had" - and that is amazing because we have had some Really Good Brisket Sandwiches over the years. I took a couple of bites and I must say; "This Brisket Sandwich has the Perfect Balance of Deliciousness in every bite. The Brisket is Just-Right Saucy with lots of flavor - and those Pickles have the Right Crunch to them. I Love My 'Saddle', or should I say 'Frito Pie' because this thing is also 'Just-Right' with Everything in there - another Perfect Balance of Deliciousness. This is why Packsaddle is One of the Best, if not The Best BBQ place around. Always Tastylicious Food and of course, some Really Beautiful Cars & Trucks on display.
Sarah earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and so did the Chef/Cook due to the Deliciousness we both enjoyed. Check out Packsaddle on Facebook; Packsaddle Bar-B-Que - and On-Line.
Our Favorite was the "Vette-Jet" but we are kind of partial to that one, but Second was the Old Red Chevy. This was One-Awesome-Car. But there were a lot of Awesome Cars here and some Really Cool Trucks - Lov'em All.
We both enjoyed chatting with the other Car Enthusiasts and will again at some other location around San Angelo. The Car meet-ups skip around different places throughout San Angelo. Also, while at Packsaddle, we ran into some friends from our Church, it's always great seeing them around town. Everyone Loves Packsaddle - and the Awesome Car Show. When we go out we see a lot of these Awesome Cars driving around San Angelo.
On the way back home my Baby and I enjoyed another Beautiful and Hot San Angelo Day in the Vette-Jet with the Top Down - and a slight breeze. There's nothing better than Texas BBQ & Cars and that's what we enjoyed today.

(Well, okay - How about Cheeseburgers)
My Wife and I have plans for our Saturday, and we enjoyed every minute of it all. First, we went to the "Suez Shriner's Annual Car Show" and then over to "Packsaddle Bar-B-Que" for some good bites. The Car Clubs here in San Angelo get together every Saturday at a selected location each month, but today was scheduled at "Packsaddle Bar-B-Que" but due to the Annual Car Show, it was cancelled.
Anyway, the Car Show was Awesome and we enjoyed admiring all the work these owners have worked on for their Dream. Now it's on to 'Packsaddle' where they have some really good BBQ - and the Best Frito-Pie around.
We arrived for a Late Lunch and this place has a good number of people here. Walked in and were informed to sit anywhere you want. We chose a booth in the main area. Rachel is our Server and we have had her a couple of times. I already know what I want but the Wife is looking over the menu trying to decide. She knows I want their "Cheeseburger" but she suggested I get the "Double Cheeseburger" and cut her off a slice. That's okay with me because that means More Cheeseburger for me and I like that. I was thinking of only their 1/2 pounder but their Double is Two Half Pound Patties they call the "Full Pack" seasoned with their Special Spices, with Double Cheese, served on a Tosted, Soft Style Bun with Mustard, Lettuce, Pickles & Tomatoes. Chose Chips instead of French Fries. That's okay with me - I. Love. Cheeseburgers.
Even though Packsaddle is busy, our food came out sooner than expected - and that "Full Pack" looks BIG & Beautiful - with lots of Cheese all over the sides. Cut of a nice Slice for my Wife and I get the rest - and we did share those Chips. It shows that these Big Patties are hand made and grilled perfectly because as you ate it, some of it did fall apart. Being a little on the Sloppy side is always a good thing in rating a Burger of any type. Everything in it is really good and those Patties are Thick - Solid Beef Thick - with lots of Cheese. It's One Big Pretty Good Sloppy Cheeseburger and I ate all of mine - about 75% of it all while my Wife enjoyed her 1/4 Slice and said it was really good and just enough for her.
Packsaddle Bar-B-Que has a Large Menu and they are well supported in San Angelo - it's a Texas Thing. Rachel checked on us often, and they were busy. She earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for doing what she does - going above and beyond. On the way home, my Wife and I enjoyed another Beautiful Day in San Angelo, Texas.

They do a decent job of barbecue. They also offer fried catfish, and a varied assortment of bottled beers.

Very cute country aesthetic. Smells delicious as soon as you walk through the door. Burger was perfectly chargrilled. My husband enjoyed his po boy. The fries were very soggy, I kind of enjoy soggy fries however they had no salt on them very bland. They definitely need some salt. Peach cobbler tastes more like an apple cobbler, was missing the peaches. The key lime pie was good and so tart. Everyone was very friendly. We enjoyed our experience. Just need to salt those fries!!!

Thank you for a great lunch! I was in Texas for a week and this was the only BBQ I got to eat: it was totally worthy! I got the lovely beef brisket with fried okra and beans. Our server promised me creamy beans and she delivered. The meat was juicy and tender, and the sauce... finger-licking good! My friend really enjoyed her meal, but honestly, I was all about my own plate it was so good. This will definitely be my go-to BBQ in San Angelo. Also, we sat there for FOUR hours visiting and catching up and everyone was absolutely lovely about it. Thank you!

One of the best and longest lasting legit BBQ spots in town. Great new management team and great food across the board. The catfish is super good, the turkey is melt in your mouth tender, the house BBQ sauce is addicting! Don, Tracey couple/owners are awesome, pitmaster and 20 year employee vet Jay is a master of his craft. They do spectacular large group catering events also.

Fish was great, moist. Everything else was eh, the sandwich was $10 with one piece of brisket and one piece of sausage. And the desserts- y'all gotta do better. It was like a school cafeteria. The cake and the cobbler were almost nostalgic how much they reminded me of elementary school. The 'homemade icecream' was like melted and refrozen soft serve. Just icicles.
But yes, the fish was great.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3 janv. 2022
I've been here twice. The first time I regretted only getting a third of a lb. The brisket was heavenly, mash potatoes creamy, and fries weren't bad either. Now the second time, I had high expectations and while it was still good, it wasn't like the first time. I ended up feeling a little queezy after but that's likely from eating too much too fast. I 100% would go back and recommend. It isn't anything fancy but you don't need fancy when you serve quality BBQ. Try it yourself, I don't think it will disappoint.
