A spectacular place staffed by kind and knowledgeable experts with an eclectic selection of lighting and a really cool and wide variety of lampshades.

Amazing selection and wonderful staff. I have many lamps from here and everyone always comments on them. Every time I walk by a beautiful lamp in my home or colorful shade it makes me smile. I would never buy lamps or fixtures anywhere else!

I recently received my salad spinner in the mail from The Lamp Shop. They are spiteful women. It arrived with the bottom Bakelite knob missing. Shame on you.

I spoke to Danielle. I showed her photos of my Minka ceiling fans (on her store computer) that are made with brushed nickel. I said that I wanted it to match. I told her that using cord is ugly. I also wanted a plug on the inside of the basket so that I could put xmas lights instead of the three separate plugs that she had mentioned. And Danielle also convinced me to create additional lights so that I would have three lights for my kitchen counter. And we discussed using these very elongated bulbs which looked rather phallic. And I have a drawing from Danielle.
Well because she did not write anything down when I received her first price quote for the job it did not include the additional light in the basket of the salad spinner, it did not include brushed nickel tubing like the Minka fans.
But it was reasonably priced...

Hi Lauren!
Here is the quote for your one of a kind salad spinner turned light fixture! Based on a three foot drop parts for this project will be around $80 and labor somewhere between $60~$75. To make you two pendants with hooks just for displaying other objects you would be looking at $60 in parts and $40~$60 in labor a piece. If you wanted to make them lights you can add $20~$30 extra to that cost...

So this is reasonabley priced. Yes? But wait...no mention of materials as per our discussion.
So I called her and we had another lengthy conversation and as a former Design Manager/ Project Manager I suggested she take notes and write things down and email her clients to confirm what they had discussed.
Next Email From Danielle...
As requested here are the photos! I have priced out all the parts needed for this project and due to the changes in the specs and the materials, the cost has gone up.
For the two grater pendants hanging 30"above your counter top, the brushed nickel parts will cost $155.50 each and labor between $90-120 each. The total cost is between $245.50-275.50 each.
The salad spinner pendant hanging 30" above your counter top with brushed nickel parts will cost $102 and the labor between $120 -210. The total cost is between $222-312.
And now you know why I give them only one star when I would like to give them none. What a waste of MY time.
She went from $150 to $245-$275 for the grater lamps. REALLY! WOW!!
I have gone online and found many DYI lamp shop parts stores like www.colorcord.com (they have cord but also metal tubing) and https://www.grandbrass..com
Their mark up for parts is amazing and so much more then the costs at either of these online vendors. I actually sent them the online vendor information.
People just find someone else and avoid the Lamp Shop at all costs. Later for the incompetent folks at the Lamp Store. - Heidi C.Burlington, États-Unis11711914975 janv. 2016Prem's
This place is cool! I suggest you go there just to check it out, even if you're not actually looking for lighting. They make a lot (most?) of the stuff there. There are antique lamps. Funky, retro looking lamps. I'm moving into a house with a lot of original 1920s lighting and they even carried tons of selection from that time period.
If you don't see something that's 100% what you want they will help you customize pieces. Also, one of the woman who works there has a very cool Black Lab, Seven, who is very friendly and will greet you as you enter.
This place isn't conventional and that's what makes it so interesting. Don't forget this shop if you're looking for one-of-a-kind pieces. Given the uniqueness of the offerings the prices are pretty reasonable, though pricier than you will find in more generic places.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - M J.Boston, États-Unis1147156825 nov. 2018
Love it here! They have such a fun collection of antique/refurbished lightning, lamp shades of every shape size and color and vintage furniture ! I'm from out of town and like to visit every time I'm in Burlington. My one issue is they're closed on Sunday. Boo.
