New year, newer review. Five stars for the pharmacy. The pharmacy staff are friendly, professional and great at helping everyone. If the pharmacy closed, I wouldn't visit this location.
If you are visiting the area or work nearby, with limited choices, you can find a limited version of a typical Walmart inventory: groceries, ready made sandwiches and diapers. The small electronics dept usually has a third party vendor trying to sign up customers for business (cell phone, tv services, etc). If someone says, "How are you?" be prepared for a sales pitch. The only employees who care how I am doing are inside the pharmacy. The employees cluster in little groups of two or three.
The entrance is frequently blocked by people loading their cars or pan handlers. Walking to the store is the safest way to travel. The garage entrance/exit was not well designed for safety. If you are picking up a prescription, you can purchase a handful of items, as long as they are not weighed (i.e. bananas, etc).
The customer service desk is hit or miss (mostly miss). Employees frown and don't have a passion for customer service. I have spoken to managers about the lack of assistance. Occasionally someone has cared for a minute. There hasn't been a permanent solution to empowering employees to provide at least minimal effort.
Every once in a while, I bump into a well seasoned employee who is nice. They are usually stationed at the exit.
The elevators are pushed to the limit. There should be a separate service elevator for shopping carts. I would take the stairs but they are only randomly open and I don't want to be stuck in a stairwell.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 02 févr. 2015Avis précédentThis is a "smallmart" and not a "walmart." I attended the opening of this location. I was so excited to learn of a Walmart being in DC. I rarely visit since it isn't that rewarding to go. The store is usually really crowded. The only time I saw lots of employees on the floor was on the day the store opened. The pharmacists are helpful and really nice. Most of the employees act as if they are hostages, who would rather not be there. I have overheard employees complaining about their tasks, shifts and supervisors. Keep your griping inside your break room! You can fill a prescription and find milk. If you live nearby, ordering from walmart.com and picking up at the store for free is a nice convenience. The service is underwhelming.

I saw this Walmart store is open up to 11pm daily now. What a giant leap for DC!
Last time I was there, the store's curfew was 8pm which is relatively late by DC standards. So on a Sunday night when I arrived in town around 7ish, I realized that I forgot to pack my travel-sized contact lens solutions and I got panicked! I had a reason to be this uptight - this Walmart store was the only place in this neighborhood that I could find what I need and was still open on Sunday night in DC past 7pm.
I rushed in, navigated myself to find the contact lens solution bottles and got bit relieved as it's only 7:20 or so. However, these solutions were locked and I pushed the assistance button to get some help. It was a long wait to have someone show up but with the wrong key. Then I had to call the service again and the same thing happened. I got more and more irritated as the staff was sweating but they just couldn't find their keys to open their cabinets in the entire store! The clock was ticking and staff had come and gone... I was surely frustrated to have to wait for them to find the right key for almost 40 minutes. But to be honest, I can't complain much because a young couple next to me got suffered much more - the condemns they were longing for got locked in the same cabinet. Sorry guys, but I am sure your passion can last longer than the Walmart store key search!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lily D.Washington, DC, États-Unis1791729 déc. 2021
While I have shopped at this Walmart location from time to time few a select few items My last trip in November 2021 is my last. I wanted to make some homemade empanadas and while I am usually very good about checking expiration dates, I failed to check on that trip. I bought 4 packs of expired puff pastry doughs. I was very disappointed and had to throw them away. Unfortunately, it was after I has already made the empanadas. To say the least I was very annoyed.
Beware an please check dates, it seems to be an issue with other buyers for this location. I have never experienced this at other Walmart's in the DC area.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Wendy A.Miami, États-Unis1889231993816 juill. 2021
Unfortunately we couldn't find everything we were looking for at this Walmart location but we end up buying a few things.
I like that they have a free parking garage up to two hours and also the service was quick.
As usual the prices in this Walmart were great.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Jermaine F.Washington, DC, États-Unis37221 déc. 2022
The matter of fact they keep half harassing you for a God damn receipt to see if you stole anything or shoplift is repulsive other than that the service is great with the food prices but in order to protect merchandise they got to have this slave catchers press you outs at the exit for THAT IS SO SHORT receipt that you need muscle memory to keep up with NOT ONLY THAT YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PEOPLE PANHANDLING YOU BEFORE YOU EVEN GET TO THE GODDAMN STORE this place perfectly encapsulates all of the clerks movies combined is downright pitiful

I was in the area to play tourist and my family needed to stop and get essentials from the store, so we google mapped the nearest Walmart and it led us here.
I guess I should have yelped this location before going in, but this is the most ghetto walmart I have ever been through. The first sign was that the parking lot smells like a gas station bathroom that got blown up on a hot humid day. The second clue was that the underwear and socks were locked up behind a plastic case.
The best part was the huge brawl that took place in front of the elevator when we were trying to leave. Unfortunately the elevator was the only exit to the garage where we were parked. I was carrying my boyfriend's infant niece so I had to stay way clear of the situation.
Of course the police showed up but that didn't stop the employees there from busting out their cellphones to record what was going on.
Next time I'm looking for free street entertainment, I will head back this way!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - 12820964515 nov. 2020
Ahh the H street Walmart! What an experience this is! This location seems to have quite a diverse array of products, though it is a bit disorganized. Though other reviews mention long wait times for check out, I've never experienced that. Customer service seems to be lacking here. Stills convenient and reasonably priced spot to buy things!
Pros:
- Convenient location and open 24/7: Helpful if you're looking to swing by after work or work in a nearby neighborhood!
- Product variety: lots of different products here, in periods when well-stocked, this is great!
- Food: The grocery area of the store is the best division, in my opinion. Good fruit and drink selection, and always some yummy baked goods in the bakery area as well!
- Check out: pretty fast so long as you use the self-checkout booths
Cons:
- Customer service: this store seems understaffed, and many of the employees seem distracted and are not the most helpful
- Smell: Store generally smells pretty strongly of marijuana. Not a huge issue to me, but just a heads up!
- Disorganization: The story seems somewhat disorganized and it can be difficult to find what you were looking for unless you know the layout very well. Also it seems that many items are not well stocked.
- Angry customers: I do not think that this is the fault of the Walmart, however there have been several occasions where I have seen fights break out in this Walmart amongst customers. Customers will be yelling at each other and fighting. I'm not sure why this is the case, however it is happened enough times that I think it's worth commenting on because it does impact the overall experience of shopping here.
- Parking garage conditions: the parking garage seems pretty dirty and smells distinctly of weed (lol). to get up from the parking garage into the store you have to take a rather small elevator, which people sometimes aggressively push to get into, as a crowd typically gathers to use it.
- The area immediately surrounding this Walmart does not seem to be the safest at night. In addition to customers fighting in the Walmart, I have noticed folks in and around the Walmart who seem to be in very altered States, and have also witnessed a few incidents of shoplifting taking place. If you are a single woman I would probably avoid visiting this Walmart or walking around it late at night, though it is open 24 sevenHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 16 janv. 2021
Weird that I write a review like this, but the people should know. I thought the apocalypse level shopping when COVID started coming around would've tapered off by now, but I think all the craziness in the capital is bringing that surge back. Lysol being gone is one thing, but I was having the hardest time finding Bounty level paper towels. Costcos across DMV out of both that and their Kirkland brand, with many missing one or all of their toilet paper rolls as well.
Was surprised how effortless my shopping experience here was. Parking garage with 2 hour free parking, mask check at the front and receipt making at the end - it kind of was a pseudo-Costco experience. But lo and behold, there were plenty of paper towels and toiletries on the shelves. Got everything I needed in under 20 minutes no sweat! Also got some food goodies as well.
A little smaller on the Walmart side of things, but they got everything in stock. Can't ask for anything else really.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lynn B.Dayton, États-Unis0134210 févr. 2023
Shopping at this location was an interesting experience. The "service" people don't provide customer service. They definitely seem annoyed. The security guards were standing around laughing and looking at cellphones. What I was searching for was out of stock. A complete waste of time visiting this location.

Worst online order experience ever! Only gave 1 so that I could make a post. Ordered grocery express delivery that was scheduled for 4pm Saturday. Never showed up and customer service recommended that I cancel, which I did. placed another order Sunday morning, scheduled the delivery between 2 and 3pm this time and actually said my order was on the way around 5 PM. Never showed up. driver returned to the store with our groceries and they canceled our order again. No notice or explanation. I will never order groceries from Walmart again.
