We usually order through Ubereats or Grubhub which become a little hassle due to the crashing app, after switch to" pick up at store". So we'd dine in at the restaurant. Here are some of the facts in my perspective.
Food: better than most Chinese-American mixing diners, but still not very authentic either. They add too many msg in our string bean chicken and the eggplant taste too salty. Lack of pure flavor but satisfying. The egg flower soup was very tasty as well with an abundance of egg, and not watered down like most restaurants. Chefs special also deserve a try.
Desserts/appetizers: Salt and pepper wings aren't peppery and tastes like marinated in salty fish sauce rather than salt crusted. No complaints here; I like fish sauce wings, just not what I was expecting.
Environment/service: Those folks are sure run the business well, speedy and efficient. We avoid the dinner peak by showing up around 5pm, and get served quick. I love the decoration inside, compare to previous owner's design.
2 stars off is they really need to update their online menu, and priced down a few entrees. If more veggie combo options are available. Plus: Renton location permanently closed, new restaurant is in T-mobile square by Factoria.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jo H.Renton, États-Unis2281132234 janv. 2022
We've always driven by this place and been curious because there's never many cars in the parking lot, they're open late, and they're super close to where we live.
Basically, it reminds me of China Harbor when I used to live across from there.
We were particularly hungry one evening and we called and asked if they were open. They refused to take our order over the phone (a lot of folks end up never picking up their food since they close late, and so they're out the money).
We went in with the intention of dining in after being cooped up for so long. Unfortunately, their dining room has been closed indefinitely.
We loved the smell of the place - you can smell the wood and the dining room is REALLY INTERESTING while you wait for your food.
Important things to note:
1) their menu online is outdated. (see my photo)
The worker said that that's been years old - and they're under new management. Why they haven't updated it? Not sure.
2) there are a gajillion security cameras inside
Like seriously. It kept us occupied while we waited for our food - we just counted how many different security cameras there were. After we finished counting, we started making up stories as to what 'side gigs' might be happening to elicit such a need for that many cameras. Secret Mahjong den?
3) They have boba!
we did not try it because they stop serving after 9 pm but... it's buy one get one half off (or free?) I forget. Sorry guys, i lagged on this
4) The food
we got singapore curry noodles and black pepper beef.
Overall the portion was AMAZING
but the food was OKAY. It wasn't the worst i had, but definitely not the best either. The singapore noodles were super dry, so hard to eat. Other restaruants i've been to make it so there's a little more moisture/oil in the noodles, so it's pleasant to eat from start to finish.
The black pepper beef - my partner enjoyed this but the beef isn't great quality. Super chewy.
I was happy with the portions for sure! We would come back and order if in a bind and it's super late... but it's not somewhere I'd take friends/family if they visited.
I AM curious about the boba though... so will keep you posted!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15 sept. 2019
This place is awesome!!
Service was excellent, ambiance was lovely and location has free parking. :)
But let's talk about food!! Best part. It was plentiful, with very generous portions. It was fresh and delicious and it had plenty of flavor in each bite. Grabbed a to go menu when we left, as I foresee Chinese take out and movie nights happening soon.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 22 avr. 2019
Solid 3 = I'd eat there again if I was in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
Soups: good but a bit lacking in ingredients.
Appetizer: salt and pepper wings aren't peppery and tastes like marinated in salty fish sauce rather than salt crusted. (No complaints here; I like fish sauce wings, just not what I was expecting.)
Almond Chicken: nice crispy white meat chunks. Almond gravy is okay, but a tad bland.
Eggplant: oily but that's to be expected because Chinese eggplant is always fried, but the oil flavor stands out because the sauce isn't thick enough to coat the eggplant so the oil stands out.
Delivery: excellent and prompt. Only annoying thing was that if you order online, you have to pay with cash. It's the only payment option listed. I assume you can call in a card.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15 oct. 2018
After seeing positive reviews for Zhen Kee on the I Love Renton FB page and on the NextDoor app, I decided to give it a try last night.
There were 3 tables with patrons when we arrived on a late Sunday evening, but we saw several people come in to pick up carryout orders.
Service was speedy but attentive, which we appreciated.
We ordered the family style option (for 2 or more patrons) where you get the choice of an egg roll or crab rangoon, your choice of soup, a side of plain rice or BBQ pork fried rice, and an entree.
To start, the eggroll was delicious. I could tell it had been freshly made by it's flakey layers.
The egg flower soup was very tasty as well with an abundance of egg, and not watered down like most restaurants. The sweet and sour soup was jam packed with flavor and had a kick of spice.
For our entrees, we ordered the Mongolian Beef and General Tso's chicken, and we were impressed by both!
The Mongolian Beef had quality cuts of beef and excellent flavor. Likewise, we received a huge portion of General Tso's chicken which was fried to perfection and tossed in a palette pleasing blend of spices. You actually get a ton of chicken in each bite too, which is rare!
In a nutshell, Zhen Kee is the quality Chinese restaurant that Renton has been lacking. If you haven't been yet, check it out!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Julie K.Seattle, États-Unis650162 mai 2021
Y'ALL. Idk who needs to hear this but THIS IS THE BEST LOG ROLL I've EVER had. I didn't even know they have this. We ordered SIX. The texture, the taste, the balance of sweet and salty, it's SO DELICIOUS. Green onions, sesame seeds, dried pork fu, it's so good.

Got take out on the 4th of July from here - so grateful they were open, as we had just finished hiking in Rainier!
We tried the curry chicken, water-boiled fish, and bok choy (bc ~health~). Everything was pretty decent. A bit sad that the fish dish mostly consisted of cabbage, but it's aight. We were just happy we didn't have to cook on a holiday.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tara G.San Francisco, États-Unis269811 janv. 2021
I ordered Kung pau chicken and veg chowmein omg I was super dissatisfied!! There is no flavor whatsoever for both entree I took 2 bite with my bf and we were done. I have never had such bland Chinese food. I prefer panda over this food! It was not worth my money and I will not be coming back!!!
