I ended up going on the very last day, which turned out to be a great decision! The weather was perfect, with a light wind and bright sunshine.

I opted for the Ice Cream flight, which was also a great decision...I chose Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Brownie, Strawberry Cheesescake, and Blueberry Lemon as my flavors, and as we were given a choice of 2 toppings, I chose Butterfinger and M&Ms. The flavors were all delightful, with the Strawberry Cheesecake being the lightest, and a tie between the Cookie Dough and Blueberry Lemon for the strongest.

Additionally available for purchase were Sprecher soda, Jarritos, craft beer, and even sake in a can!

We ordered from the outside window, but upon returning my flight board, I did go into the store. They have all the beverages there in a fridge, as well as shelves of nostalgic kid stuff for sale. For most Yelpers nowadays, I would say it was stuff your grandparents or even great-grandparents played with.

I can definitely recommend a visit, if you're near Ray's, Thainamite, or Sendik's. It's one of the few ice cream places that can give custard a run for the money!

Finally was able to get a nice date night with the hubby, after all the holiday hullabaloo!

The drinks are awesome, even the non-alcoholic ones; so delicious!
The ceviche was not not quite what I expected, but it was also delicious. The sweet potatoes were an unexpected but worthy addition! We also ordered a charcuterie board, which we enjoyed very much!

The Yelp swag was neat; I especially loved the old style 1950's and '60's hotel fob keyring, so cute!

I would not hesitate to visit here again either after, or as part of a night out on the town. It's small enough to be intimate, yet large enough that you don't feel smothered by the staff.

I can't improve on anything any of my fellow Yelpers have stated about this place, so I'm not even going to try.

In addition to my Yelp freebies, I ordered a combo plate of oxtail and goat. It came with red rice and beans, cooked cabbage, and plantains as sides. Everything was delicious! The flavors of the meats was spot on, as was the rice and beans, with neither being too bland nor too spicy. The portions were healthy, and I had enough leftovers to take home to my husband, who happily finished them.

I deducted a star for 2 reasons. The oxtail was a smidge undercooked, in that it stuck to the bones. It should slide right off. Secondly, the breadfruit chips were grossly out of date. I brought them home and we excitedly tried them, only to get a rancid taste. We then looked at the expiration date, and saw they had expired in 2022. In looking at pictures, I see that someone else's expired in 2021. This is unacceptable. However, because the chips weren't part of the main Yelp event, I can't in good faith tell someone NOT to go here, because the food IS really good. In fact, I hope to return soon, as I saw a few other things I'd like to try!

      Harbor View, Milwaukee

Solid place to get a cocktail or beer. The atmosphere is welcoming, yet cozy, with different areas in the same room having very different vibes.

Want to be left in peace with your sweetie or group? Grab a booth.
Want to interact with anyone, literally ANYONE who comes in? Sit at the bar.
Want to be able to talk to your friends, but are open to making new ones? Grab a table in the middle of the room.

Sometimes it's quiet in here, and sometimes, well, not so much.

Hungry? No food here, but there is usually a food truck on the premises and you can bring your food inside and eat.

      They're welcoming that way.

How have I neglected to review Merriment Social?!?!

I've been here several times now, for group events, with my husband, and with other people that I've wanted to share the place with.

Not once, have I ever had a bad meal. NOT ONCE.

Hamburgers rule the day here, and they are delicious! I've had so many different ones as the menu changes, or as they have hosted burger-offs, with customer designated ingredients. These burgers would then go head to head with another customer designed burger until a winner was eventually crowned.

There is other food here, too, and I'll let others speak to that, as I almost exclusively get a burger when I come here. The cocktails are spot on and creative, and even the mocktails are special. I had to ask the bartender more than once, "Are you SURE there's no alcohol in here?" because it tasted like there was alcohol in there (and not in a bad way).

A few things to note: it can get loud in there, as there aren't really any soft surfaces to absorb sound, and it can get chilly if it's a little breezy out and the garage doors are open.

This place is a not-so-hidden-gem hiding in the 3rd ward.
