    More about me

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. First of all, it's beautiful inside- if you are planning to come, try to snag one of those reservations... cuz we had the outdoor covered patio and it was still freezing. That being said, the patio is really beautifully built and does have heaters, it's just that it's still cold. I asked if there were any cancellations and they said they were "fully committed" without even looking. I've called in the past to see what reservation availabilities there were before we finally got to try the restaurant this weekend and that's literally their favorite phrase for everything. I tried to add my address to my reservation and the server was down.

Food was quite pricey and I really wanted to like it more than I did. We all ordered mulled wine because it's cold- it wasn't the worst but definitely not the best I've had. For such a small mug, they could have filled it more? It also was leaning more on the bitter side than sweet/ spiced. Not bad but wasn't my favorite mulled wines I've had- that being said- we all still had two each. We started off with sharing oysters- those were great- super fresh and delicious. I tried the CABILLAUD EN VICHYSSOISE which is steamed cod, potato-leek soup, lardons- it was quite bland to be honest and I would skip. I ordered the soup because I was cold. My friend ordered the CARPACCIO DE SAINT-JACQUES AUX AGRUMES which is raw sea scallop, citrus jam, endive. That looked really great and he enjoyed it immensely. For dinner, I had the CONFIT DE CANARD, POLENTA CRÉMEUSE. The confit was wonderfully crispy and the flavor was great. The polenta, while it was creamy, was bland. Maybe I should have added more pepper on it. If you order this, maybe ask if the polenta can be substituted. I also got to sneak a bite of my husband's BŒUF BOURGUIGNON which is braised short ribs on top of stortini pasta. We both were also "meh" about this dish. All things considered, presentation is great. If you really want, you can also purchase these dining wares to take a bit of this experience home with you. If I'm being honest, my favorite part of the meal was probably the dinner ware it came on and not the food so much. It's unfortunate because it is priced quite high and both my husband and I, and our friends were really looking forward to our first time here but frankly felt underwhelmed. We all also opted to skip the small desert menu. I think for a French restaurant, we were anticipating a more extensive dessert offering.

Anyway, service was overall pretty mediocre. It probably wasn't the worst service I've ever had but it definitely was not good. The waiter didn't seem like he wanted to get us the ground pepper and when he did he just left the grinder on the table. At another point during dinner, the waiter dropped the empty stray right next to us, but luckily he already placed the food on our table. No apologies or anything made. The assistant server also reached over me to give my husband his meal- what if she dropped it on me? Like there had to been an easier way than to reach over me to place his dish in front of him since both sides of the table are fully accessible. Lastly, when we tried to do the contactless payment, we all tried to pay multiple times and the program was simply not working. Our server seemed kind of annoyed we had to ask him to settle our bill because their program wasn't working. Maybe the online program servers were down for the credit card payments and reservations.

Overall, we really wanted to enjoy this restaurant- It's often "fully committed" and it's honestly really beautiful inside as well as the patio. Perhaps I'll give it another go during the "Joli Weekend" and try their brunch service... but that's a big "perhaps".

My friend and I booked a besties shoot in Paris in the fall and picked a morning time slot. We had a great time with Daniel. He was professional, friendly and very communicative. He gave us great feedback on how to better angle ourselves and have beautiful photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

The whole process was super easy, quick and pleasant. I found out about the Paris Photographer online and the site was easy to navigate. I was able to pick out a package that best suited what my friend and I wanted. The dates available are clearly mapped out on the site. They also provide great tips on how to dress and things to consider prior to your shoot. I brought flats to wear while we moved around and changed into heels only when necessary.

Overall, the whole experience was very pleasant. I would highly recommend using the Paris Photographer team. They are really great to work with and we had a wonderful time! I would really love to do a longer shoot next time but also would consider booking an assistant.

What a fun spot- we used to come here all the time (pre covid)!! Glad to see they're operating again. The staff here are all super nice and chill. There are some tvs here where you can catch a game.

Everyone really loves the picklebacks here and they have great options for lunch. Definitely a really chill spot downtown with good prices, good food and all come with a good time.

Beautiful hotel- I've stayed at the Las Vegas location and figured it would have similar vibes. I was surprised how long the line was to check in, but I understand during covid things are going to be a little different. We ended up getting a free upgrade for our room, which was very nice.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay during covid times. However, checking out was a nightmare. They do implement procedures to encourage social distancing, this they exercise really well with the elevators. The major drawback of this is that, if they have a fully booked night coming up, there are no extensions for check outs. When this happens and EVERYONE is forced to check out at the same time- you have people waiting over 30 minutes to LEAVE. We were pretty high up, almost on the 30th floor. After over 20 minutes of waiting (the people in front of us were going on a 40+ minute wait), we ended up taking the fire escape... carrying all our own luggage down all those flights of stairs. Another issue I had was that I tried to fix my member card and all the kioskes were not able to fix my issue with printing a new card and the in person help was not open because hours have changed due to covid. That was frustrating but can be fixed at a later time.

When I complained to the front desk, all they did was apologize. Which, I know it was not the front desk person's fault but that is really horrendous to have to walk 20 some odd stories down with multiple bags because the elevator is taking over half an hour and that doesn't guarantee you a spot on the lift. We did have a lovely stay, up until the end.

I want to give Encore another shot but we'll have to re-evaluate post quarantine.

What a fun spot with delicious ice cream! They have so many great combinations, and all of them taste delicious with the little cone that looks like a fish. I really liked the one with matcha and black seasame, but the ones with custard inside were also delicious. Come try a few combos- they are all pretty delightful!
