Sweet potatoes... meh. Pies? Meh. Brownies? Meh. HOWEVER...... Sweet potato brownies and sweet potato pies? OH... MY... STARS.

Not only does this business make delicious food (I've had their pound cake too which is insanely DELICIOUS), but the food is GOOD for you. Made with organic ingredients, with vegan and gluten-free options, and promoting wholesome, homecooking... it's just amazing. There are too few business like that.

And setting aside the food... their customer service is amazing. I had given my opinion on one of the gluten-free, vegan, oatmeal-raisin cookies and they had actually followed up on it. They acknowledged my opinion and actually made a new batch and asked me to try it. I mean... WHO DOES THAT? Now that right there is the small-town, genuine, mom-n-pop shop customer service that I truly miss.

Cane Patch... you keep doing what you do and spread the positivity around. It is definitely making this world a better place. (o:

      Avis mis à jour

Poor business practice- A few months ago I was asked by the owner to take this post down. Instead of coming to me directly to treat a unsatisfied customer, he went through someone else to deliver the message- I need to take my negative review down or he will consider charging the artists to set up their booths in the Art Walk. I used to be an artist at the San Marcos Art Walk until this incident.

Hey... I can understand what it means to be a community and supporting one another.... but, to try to censor me and control your ratings and use your power of being chair in the San Marcos Art Council... well, sorry buddy, that's just disrespectful and bad karma. I suggest that you should of reached out to me yourself, addressed my dissatisfaction in a professional manner, and then bring up the developing community between the restaurants and the artists.

I lagged in posting this information out of fear that the owner was going to do something drastic to my friends who were still participating in the Art Walk. Needless to say... there were some negative changes that occurred anyways and my friends are no longer part of the Art Walk.

By the way, I went there again recently-- had a regular coffee-- there were grinds in my coffee. Not sure if I just have bad luck you with this place. However, the atmosphere of this place is still great. The location and the events, and the outdoor patio is beautiful. At least you've got that going for you.

      Damn.

Guy who took my order didn't even write it down. He got our drinks completely wrong, one entry wrong completely wrong, and forgot to bring out side dish.

      Pho broth is bland.

Fresh spring rolls were the worst I've ever had.

They use the wrong lettuce for the vermicelli, spring rolls, and egg roll dishes.

Had to ask for water 3 times. THREE TIMES........

Thai tea tasted like creamy, orange-colored water with too much ice.

I'm not exaggerating here folks... and I'm going to tell you, I am Asian, and I have been to every single Pho place that is south of the 78 freeway and north of the 94. I don't usually bash restaurants, but this pho place..... is by far..... a freakin' joke. A JOKE. The only reason I feel like this place has decent stars is because it has like NO competition.... MAN.... if you guys only KNEW what pho is suppose to be like..... GEEZ.

Food: It was decent. My boyfriend was head-over-heels for the chocolate chop pancakes. I had a scramble. It wasn't anything that really woo'd me. Coffee could have been stronger.

Atmosphere: It's okay... nothing that really made it feel special or awesome.

Service: Could be better. I had to flag a waitress down to refill my coffee. I caught a look of slight annoyance when I did. Word of advice-- it's your job hunny. Get over it. Food came out speedy. Checking out process was speedy.

Overall: this is place is good if you're just looking for a local place to eat. Prices are just a LITTLE bit on the high side for the place being just decent. It's definitely worth a shot... maybe someone else will find this place awesome. For me... maybe I'm spoiled and think I deserve more for my money.

FOOD: Consistent. Fresh ingredients. Simple and DELICIOUS. Recommendations: Uhmmmmm..... EVERYTHIING? Yes... EVERYTHING.

COFFEE: For a breakfast place, this restaurant has bomb-diggity coffee. They even provide "fancy creamer" which I feel that all breakfast restaurants should do.

SERVICE: I have come to this restaurant almost every week for the past 6-8 months and NOT ONCE have I been displeased with the service. NOT ONCE.

The only downside is the wait on the weekends. Is the worth it? My goodness, YES. What's super nice is that the servers aren't douchbags about it either... tell them that you're going to run an errand within the alloted wait time and they will accommodate for this and not give your spot away.

Ugh... I want to live here.
