Came here a few times and I understand why I don't like coming here. It's honestly the pricing for what you get and personally feel you could get better food somewhere else
An example is the fish and egg bowl was tiny and vegetable sandwich was soggy from all the sauce.
Service was overall decent here and parking often times is difficult to find. Ambience is nice outside and most of the servers are pretty attentive when you ask them. -

Everything we ordered was delicious. Fish and egg plate is a breakfast staple. Baklava croissant was flavorful and was a light yet sweet addition. Banh mi was also good with hints of authenticity. Ordering process can look chaotic but is organized by ticket number. The employee helping us didn't seem especially helpful. After waiting 10 minutes for our number to be called and ordering the baklava croissant, he asked "did you see the baklava croissant in the case?" It's your job to check, no? It was there 10 minutes ago. That's also after mandatory tip, which I don't mind but it seems like I'm doing some of the legwork for the tip.
There were a bunch of flies around our table. Made for an annoying dining experience. Otherwise, enjoyed our lunch. -

You need to be patient. Line outside moves slowly. As of when we went most recently, get a number at the door and wait a while for it to be called to order. Once the food is ordered, the pace picked up although got the yoghurt when ordering, the fish and eggs next and the salmon roe bagel a bit later. Luckily the fish and eggs and salmon roe bagel were worth the wait. They include a 20% tip.

healthy, artisan, pricey. know what you are getting into before you go. pastries are a hit or miss. I got a croissant with my lunch and it was not crispy at all. other times, I've gotten croissants in the AM and when I bite into it, it's flake galore. so go early when they are fresh. would have been 4 stars but that was such a let down!
the smoked fish and egg dish comes with your choice of fish (i love the lox), labneh, capers, tomato, pickled red onion, cucumber raddish, and fresh bread.
tips:
1 cute outdoor patio seating, order at the counter first. reservations also avail on open table
2 freshly baked pastries and bread are an absolute must in the morning. the salmon roe bagel is a fan fave
3 gjusta is a deli, bakery, cafe, and market all in one. for the holidays you can order custom flowers or shop next door gjusta goods

It's quite the operation on a Saturday morning, as expected, but they keep it organized by having ticketed numbers. We were able to order within five minutes. Had a great spread of breakfast dishes and pastries - smoked fish and egg, two types of croissants, and breakfast pizza and frittata from the daily specials. They also have some nice refreshing juices. Definitely a little on the pricier side, but you know what you're getting into when you come to Venice for breakfast.
Dogs aren't technically allowed on the patio, but it's LA. Everyone does what they want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

Great food. We had baked eggs, croque maddam, Turkish breakfast and fish and eggs, chai tea for drinks and the best was croque madam following by the baked eggs. We also had the backlava crossaint... the food was soo good... the service however was not... we were told that we couldn't be in our sits if we didn't have an order ticket... we had a ticket but it was for ordering and I guess waiting for a seat to open up with this ticket isn't good enough. We were told to leave our seats until we had an order ticket. Very disappointing ...

It wouldn't be a trip to LA without a classic LA brunch experience, and I definitely got that here! Super busy on Saturday and we weren't quite sure how everything worked. Thankfully there was a nice local (who claims to go there at least once a week) who saw our confused faces and filled us in - grab a number and pay attention to when it's your turn, and be ready to order! We were so busy chitchatting that we totally missed when they called us the first time, so we had to grab another number and wait for another ten people to order before we could. The guy who took our order was very nice and patient, which is not what I was expecting for such a busy, fast-moving operation. Seating is very limited, so we sent two people to scout a table out while the other two of us waited to order. They'll give you a number to put on your table so they know where to bring your order - make sure they don't take it away before your full order has arrived though! We didn't notice that they removed it until we realized our drinks hadn't arrived - thankfully one of my quick-thinking dining companions was able to flag down a server who was trying to look for us (but obviously wouldn't have been able to since we had no identifying number at that point).
The menu is quite long, but we were only able to order from the breakfast menu since we were there before 11am which helped with decision-making. I'd definitely go after 11am if you want to order from the other sections though!
I really enjoyed my smoked fish and egg - it was light, filling, and incredibly tasty. I've heard about their incredible baked goods so I'm glad I was able to sample some of that as my meal came with toast. This is not a cheap spot but if I lived here, I can definitely see myself coming early in the morning for a baked good or to buy some deli items (smoked fish, cheese, charcuterie etc) to bring home! -

I had extremely high expectations coming here after someone in Texas recommended this place to me when learning I live in LA. The individual told me they used to drive down from Point Dume in Malibu just for Gjusta because their bread and food was the best he's ever tasted. I thought WOW IT MUST BE REALLY FREAKIN GOOD.
I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that this place gives off a pretentious vibe. It might be the overabundance of distressed-looking hipsters who radiate an "I'm so fcking cool" energy. Not my cup of tea. The service was actually great, and the person taking my order was patient and helpful.
Food & drinks: Ordered cold brew, butter croissant, and smoked fish and egg plate. It was good! But, I didn't find it mouthwatering or having any distinguished taste. The croissant was definitely better than your average croissant though.
Conclusion? I was not WOWed but will definitely come back here another time, early in the morning, to try their pastries super fresh and some of their other dishes. -

Had brunch here and everything was excellent. My family ordered the croque madame, mushroom bowl, smoked fish and egg, lox roti, ham and egg sandwich, huevos rancheros, salmon roe bagel, and several of the pastries. Everything was well made with high quality ingredients and delicious!

My favorite breakfast spot in LA. Love their fish and eggs breakfast option. Love their interior as well. Service is okay, there is a lot of people there usually. Also their chocolate avocado pudding is really good. Overall, love this place, even though it's hectic sometimes cuz too many people.

Gjusta is basically a deli with really fresh ingredients. The counter staff is kind, the outdoor seating is shaded, and the food is out of this world. I got the steak and eggs, and my wife ordered the smoked fish and eggs plate. Both were excellent. My hangar steak was perfectly cooked, topped with a delicious salsa verde, and the eggs, though runny and not necessarily "fried," were perfectly cooked over easy. I'd highly recommend it for those looking for a more upscale but still laid-back breakfast venture.

To be fair, our food was really tasty, if not expensive (we both ordered "fish and egg" open-faced sandwiches but ended up not receiving any egg at first due to a miscommunication).
However, what I don't appreciate was the shirty attitude of the manager(?) when I went to comment on the missing egg. We did ask for "fish and egg" plates (we aren't trying to rob you of your eggs or anything, just wanted what we ordered...) so I didn't need to be accosted for 'ordering wrong' immediately. That really soured me on the whole place, considering the luxe prices they're charging for a not-quite-sit-down experience. Loved our server though - she was extremely friendly and helpful and we don't fault her for what *ultimately* happened.
Contemporary deli food at premium prices accompanied by a dose of complacency and self-righteousness. Not really worth $36 + tip (and speaking of which, I'll *never* tip at a place like this again before the service has been completed. Thanks Gjusta for pushing me over the edge there!). We won't be back for a while. -

After a great brunch experience at Gjelina, we decided to try out the sister restaurant Gjusta after seeing pictures of delicious smoked fish sandwiches and plates.
We got here around 9 on a Saturday to avoid long lines, but there was already a small crowd of people. Since it was our first time, the ordering process was rather confusing. You don't have to get a number if you just want to order from the menu, you can just go to the express line. But if you want to order from any of the display cases, then you have to take a number and wait til your number is called. We ended up just ordering from the menu and luckily, the girl taking our order was really nice and explained everything. After you order, there's a counter at the end of the line where you can wait for your food and just eat there, or you can go to the backyard where there are some tables on a first come first serve basis. When we got our food, all the tables outside were taken, so we just ate while standing at the counter, then half way through the meal I spotted an open table and we finally moved outside.
Now onto the food, I got the smoked fish and egg plate, and it was DELICIOUS! The soft egg was perfect and the smoked salmon was really good with some labnah, capers, and pickled onions.
This is not the best place if you want to have a nice sit-down brunch with a group of friends, but it's perfect if you just want to grab a casual breakfast or brunch and don't mind the uncertainty of not having a table right away. -

Maybe the best restaurant I have ever been to. So fresh and all the plates are absolutely beautiful like art! I recommend the white bean salad and the goat milk panna cotta. I am from OC and wish I lived in Venice just so I could go here every day! I got the Smoked Fish and Eggs and it was like a beautiful piece of art and al the pieces went so well with each other aesthetic wise as well as taste.

Epic. Happy I had boxed my leftovers and ate on the plane home :) I had a salad sampler, Shishito peppers, corn and okra. I also had the smoked fish and egg plate, perfectly soft boiled egg, amazing cured salmon. I wish I could eat that every day.
